Are you using a cheap replacement charger cable/car charger kit? If it's not Apple certified it won't allow you to charge the phone.

Well, its an iphone for one. Try a different charger (cable and block). If thats not it check your port for debris. Probably some bent pins. You may be looking at a charging port replacement.

nope Bez, bought new cable last week, now on computer it says usb device not recognized
Dizzzle it wont help with others cables have tried that
Never mind thanks for help thougt, first it was a very cheap cable, found in another one that did worked with connection charger

I've seen lint/dust trapped in the charging port cause similar issues. Use a wooden/plastic toothpick to clean it out. Don't use anything metal, as you might short the contacts and fry the phone.
