Like you would want a gas slurping 200hp car as a first car anyway

Have you ever heard of insurance, taxes and other fees?

You never let us down when it comes to proving that you have no idea what you're talking about.
Everyting said above is true, I was looking Honda Civic Type R's and Escort and Sierra RS Turbos and Fiesta ST's and all those tuned up mercs and other "cool fast cars". And what did I end up with?

An 80's heavy Volvo 240 2,0l 106 bhp when it was new. That really, isn't fast at all. Biggrin
But it works in summer, it works in winter, I can drive it on the motorway whitout torturing it, I can start it up every morning going to work or school knowing that it works and that it gets me there. Even if I crash it, it's not end of it. Spaceous, safe, reliable and SLOW is what a first car needs to be. And economical and cheap on fuel (only problem with the Volvo) Tongue

You don't need anything fast as your first everyday car. It's to get from point A to point B or just fun to drive around in it.

If you want a fast and a really cool looking car, get a car for a track. Not for road.

Quite a long story. Tongue
Mine has a 2.0 engine pushing 110bhp at 6000r/min and a curb weight of 1240kg, and I think it's aaaaabsolutely lethargic. Any less power and I'd be falling asleep during every acceleration. Laugh And don't even get me started on my dad's 1.6 Astra, the gas pedal literally doesn't do anything.
Same on my father's Citroen C5 AJ. Should have about 110 horses (1.8l petrol), but it isn't really going anywhere when you go flatout. Or atleast, its making its way up very, very, very slowly. (Probably because its on LPG 99% of the time.. Should be a bit quicker on petrol)

Might get myself a Suzuki Swift 1.3l. Sure it ain't powerful, but the car itself is just 750kg. Such a shame its a hard time tracing down the 16v or GTI ones. (68hp vs 90hp vs 110)
Yeah, while working at a local garage I had to drive a customer Jaguar XJR (stock except for ignition and exhaust, about 350hp) and that didn't really FEEL like much either... It was so smooth and silent that I thought I was sitting in a padded mental hospital room. Laugh You'd get more sensation of speed on a lawn mower.
"Not too slow for first car"

I kinda answered that, not like it's the worst car in history to own as a first car, and that you should have a ferrari instead.

I got knocked off my bike by a Volvo 240 when i was little...
Now I have a dent in my head, lol.

I can spy one of those cars in traffic from pretty far away. Almost like a primal survival instinct.

Having said that, my grandfather had a couple of 240's and one was orange, lol

They're sweet cars eh? Biggrin Well you have been traumatised by a 240 then, you'll never buy a volvo

Yupp, my first. I couldn't test the accel. due to short roads =/
But it does pull pretty nicely =)

Right! I can't afford a car eating up all my money (wich isnt really much tbh).
And to be honest, I had lots of fun driving it that short time. It does look pretty modern on the inside with it's red lightning and you have to be honest, it is not an ugly car on the outside either Wink
And the most important thing: It drives. New clutch, drive belt was changed last year and the climate control has new liquids, too. For being a 16 year old car, it looks pretty tidy, too.

And it's a *Removed* Audi!
Oh and, it was a bargain, for real.

P.S. Gonna get some pics after the clean tomorrow Wink
Nice car Bullet! I was looking at audi's aswell for some time, but when i finally found one like yours, that was in good condition, and was running good, it was 2680 EUR or over Tongue
I wouldn't say 100bhp is exactly slow. It might not be Ferrari-fast, but it's not like my Micra, moseying about the countryside with half the power of BB's A3.

Give us updates Bullet, and more pictures too! Wink

Yepp, that's why I bought it pretty quickly tbh. We've seen it at a local dealer. He didn't even had the time to clean it and I already was at it Smile
Engine has about 200k kms on it but runs really smooth.

I will Wink
It needs a little work. Cleaning, of course. Looks like it had a rear-end accident because we found a dent at the place where the spare wheel is. Some weld-points broke so there's a little hole now, but nothing unfixable. We'll just hammer it straight again and close it with some welding.
Apart from that it's just the rear lights that need replacing due to cracks, but that isn't really a big problem. That's what I've found so far. Smile

Got another picture of it before I bought it.
looks nice though bullet Smile
Nice car bullet Biggrin
That looks good car Bullet Smile
Looks awesome, I was originally looking for something just like that, before giving up on a car due to pricing and insurance costs here. Tongue
Sold the Ford, to my parrents, since they needed a second car, and my mom was using it all the time, so the car hunt is back on xD
