Easy to fix on vw cars

Engine is out from the Passat and ready to donate gearbox parts to the new engine
(yes, new engine, for better reliability, (already done 600k+ kms on the engine, and the new one has ~400k kms on it.)

Only problem now before we get to put the new engine in is that we need to buy a new clutch... its worn out too bad.

This is my car, a 2001 Renault Clio 1.2 16v it has 114,000 miles. As many wheel bearings as I've had to fix on this, it has never let me down, always got me home or where ever I needed to be, through snow, ice, flooding, everything, I have a love hate relationship with it, I kinda want to keep it and see how many miles I can get out of it, but the other side of me wants a new, more economical diesel. I know I'm probably going to get negative comments for owning this but insurance company's like to bend over young drivers (I paid £1500 for my first year) and I paid for it myself, not parents/parent paying for it.


From today, snow was worse when I left in the morning, the people across the road couldn't get up the hill in their fancy new BMW whilst I made it past them and up the hill with ease.

No comment.


Got bored one day in the summer, so decided to clean my engine bay.



You'd be surprised how much you can fit in the back of these, two full sized mountain bikes, and a load of gear/equipment, and another from Glentress/buzzards nest car park.

A random one from when a R32 showed up at the garage.

That mileage though.

And a photo from the rare occasion that the car is clean, usualy covered in mud/dirt from all the country and farm roads on the way to and from training, I know a lot of you will be annoyed with having so many photos of a French car but though I may as well share some fun times I've had with it.

She be done. Seems to work nicely although there's a slight tappet noise. I might have to try different oil later because these engines are a bit sensitive to the oil due to the hydraulic valve lifters and just because it's a Ford...

New engine is officially in

First proper drive after the renovation and a first test of my camera and DIY mount.
Taking it easy and watching the temperature gauge all the time... Everything went as planned though.

Finally in the holiday spirit!
