Apparently nothing was wrong with the car afterall, the sound disappeared shortly after and didn't come back.
Sounds like a rock got stuck between your brake pads & rotors. I'm pretty sure it is since the sound changes with the speed and you say that it stopped shortly afterwards.
Over the past few weeks leading up to the tail of last year Ive been suffering from a misfire and general poor running on the Evo.
The car got worse over the weeks where it would misfire even at idle,
i changed the plugs and it was still missing on boost which didnt solve the problem.
The weather had been bad in Scotland as it always is..
..and due to poor design by Mitsubishi water ingress had done this to a few wires.
This was i believe a contributing factor to the poor running. I cut the effected wires and fixed those with new crimped connections with heat shrink to keep the water out.
A few trips to the Garage i used to work at shown in the pictures below were a little less helpful than i was hoping but they do have some nice metal kicking around..(points for guessing the car on the ramp)
Pulled the fuel pump out just to check it hadn't fell out the holder, The larger flowing Walbro 255 pumps dont fit very well in the holders. The train of thought was that the sock may have been sucking in air causing a Lean burn if it had fell out the holder in the tank.
Bar the filter being rank all was okay.. as you can see the fuel you put in your car isnt that clean which is why we have filters.
Anyway the problem is now solved.. turned out to be the coilpacks causing a KV Missfire.. running sweet now with new packs fitted
Then theres me with this big booty E61 525dA nicknamed the ''Behimot''. Its not my own personal car, but I kinda treat it as it is since I'm the only one using it, taking care of it and putting fuel in it. Its a fun big car and I've fallen in love with it over these past few months since my family has bought it, the 2.5 M57TUD25 is a fine engine (Still wish for a 3.0d), but it still hauls ass, top speed I've gone in it is like 210km/h, didn't dare to go faster, rustled my jimmys a little. Pictures taken from instagram. Had some trouble with it since getting it, like ripping the front bumper halfway off, tire pressure sensors going retarded and central lock messing up, but I've fixed it , even though its a automatic, it still can kick out in the snow which is great. And main thing, chicks love it.
Fully equipped, only thing that it doesn't have is memory in the seats.
Its a 2004 for so pre-facelift with the old type automatic, don't care really, I love the luxury that the car has and would never want a manual in it, its just meant to have a automatic gearbox.
