No mic?

RE: Something New You've Got... - Brad - 2013-01-11 22:20

Nah, I couldn't find any really good headphones with a mic, and plus I prefer to have one ear with voice, one with everything else when on Skype/TS, so I just fashion my wireless headset over the top of the headphones (actually quite comfortable).

What sound card/amplifier do you intend to use these with? From the reviews I have read about my headset (PC350) with onboard or basic audio they will sound really quiet, due to the impendance (150 ohms). 100 more ohms is quite a jump, though they'll probably sound better than mine.

Christ Brad, how much did they set you back? They're moving on towards low end pro standard studio headphones Tongue

I have an ASUS Xonar D2X, it's supposedly good up to an impedance of ~400-450ohm. I had good headphones before, but these are incredibly good, especially when using the Dolby Headphone feature on the sound-card. You can definitely tell the difference with the higher impedance - it's a bit more crisp and clean.

If you are using on-board audio, I would definitely recommend 'Sony MDR-7506's'. They have very low impedence (32ohm, I believe), have excellent sound insulation, and sound amazing (I had these for 4-5yrs). Or, there are 80ohm versions of the Beyerdynamic DT770 out there.

I paid £150 with next day delivery. If I hadn't had the tax rebate I probably wouldn't have bought them (yet, anyway), but I'm glad I did Smile
