These are so cool. I've thought about one for my basement to have a psuedo smart tv. Would love to learn some more! From my understanding ithe zero cannot run windows

Also always thought about retopie. I want to play gamecube games dangit lol

You wont get any modern version of a desktop Windows running on any of the Raspberry Pi's (basically) because they are running ARM processors.
However I'd say if you wanna learn, just buy one and start doing stuff with it!

The Zero is the cheapest and smallest model, not near as powerful as the RPi 3, but as I want to end up building mine into a small case and running retro pi on it, I needed something more compact than the other Pi's Smile

Cola have you not heard of Windows 10 IoT? It runs on Raspberry pi's.

Yes I have. That's why I wrote it that way:

*snip*

the IoT core of windows 10 can hardly be classified as a desktop version of Windows...

Edit:
Just for reference, this is how Windows 10 IoT Core looks like when displayed on a screen through a Raspberry Pi 2.

I know with the 3 they were hoping to get microsofts support. However with any of the rasberries you can run an internet browser etc to access almost anything. Netflix youtube etc. We'll see what happens. Hopefully microsoft opens up and allows the desktop or even RT/mobile version of 10 to them. Would allow the pi to become a huge market and competitor for things like apple tv, cheap chromebooks etc.

Awesome! What are you planning on doing with it? I've got a Pi 2 with Kodi hooked up to my TV. Works a charm Smile

RetroPi or maybe some closet lighting that turns on only when a sensor detects door to be open. Or maybe something controlled over a web server just for lulz

I need to start learning how to use it to it's full potential. So many cool possibilities.

I have the Z5 compact. I am really happy with it! And everyone asks me what kind of phone I have because people think it looks cool! The battery live is also insane on that thing.

RE: Something New You've Got... - Russ - 2016-10-16 09:43

I have the same phone, had it a few months now and the battery for me isn't great. Plenty of settings to fiddle around with though, dropped it several times and it still works...wooo!
