RE: Kyoto layout - Jon - 2012-02-06 23:45

In the spirit of democracy, judging by the vote i would say the community has spoken . so when is it getting changed back ??

Wink

Wink

Yeah the community have spoken +1

RE: Kyoto layout - Elmo - 2012-02-07 00:01

In the spirit of democracy, that means that only 6.7 percent of the (forum) community dislike it Tongue

(also bearing in mind that it's human nature to complain profusely when you don't like something, yet stay quiet when you do or don't mind).

ps. we've never been a democracy

RE: Kyoto layout - Josh - 2012-02-07 00:01

There are more users on our server than just the 38 who voted yes, there are also more people registered on the forum than the 38 who voted yes. It's hardly 'the community' who have spoken.

We had a lot of people complaining about chases sticking on the autobahn, so that was part of the reason for the change. Now we have changed it, we still have people who aren't happy. We just can't seem to make people happy whatever we do :/

Well, changing the layout back to what it was, im sure would make us happy?

I shall rephrase my last statement, out of the 45 people who have voted, 86.67% (currently) dislike the layout.

Yes but what about the people that do like it? Surely their views are just as important?

Quote:I shall rephrase my last statement, out of the 45 people who have voted, 86.67% (currently) dislike the layout.

Again, that is a very very small group of users in relation to how many people actually use the servers (and even the forum).

RE: Kyoto layout - Jon - 2012-02-07 00:14

But based on the percentage of the people who have actually voted, i would say the results speak for themselves.

(Just saying)

I shall digress, im sure people see my point. And i am well aware of:

9.1. Do not argue with the [TC] members.

Hence, i shall not continue with my point.

RE: Kyoto layout - Bez - 2012-02-07 00:18

Now do that percentage with people who are on the forums all the time. Not just been on for a unban request, or a ban request. Surely 39 people is more than a full server... So that means the server with Tommer's layout would be less dead. People on Server Two now = 6... I know for a fact without this non-Autobahn layout people would stay on alot more, as before past 0.00am there would be more people than that, if not for the layout.

I see and understand your point, but 38 people simply can't speak for all of the people who use our servers, even regularly.

You have quoted a server rule, that is completely irrelevant here. Afterall, it's a forum, its largely meant for debates Tongue

Lets just leave it at that eh. I have a great respect for all TC members, and would not want to lose it, by getting into a debate which, quite clearly speaks for itself by the percentage of the vote.

Cheers, End of Smile

RE: Kyoto layout - Stunna - 2012-02-07 00:34

So is this a serious vote? I don't think everyone has seen/read or even voted this thread.

RE: Kyoto layout - Jon - 2012-02-07 00:46

Im sorry, i really am, but from what i interpret from Elmo's statement is, that we have no say in what goes on within 'Our Community'

(2012-02-07 00:01)Elmo Wrote:  ps. we've never been a democracy

Now, a democracy, essentially means:-

"Democracy in its purest or most ideal form would be a society in which all adult citizens have an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives." - Wiki.

Correct me if im wrong, please do, but .. we have no say? .. or do our opinions not count?

I am debating here Smile

Your opinions do count, of course they do. What we are saying is that so do those of people with opposing views, not just those in favour of one particular outcome.

That's what I was saying, you are allowed to, you don't have to bring rule 9.1 into this Tongue[/quote]

RE: Kyoto layout - ChrisM - 2012-02-07 01:02

Give this consideration:
If we lowered the speed to 75mph on the AB.
-People would sit at around 100mph comfortably, without losing money.
-Braking distance would be shorter than the usual 130/140mph we do, if a chase has stopped up ahead. (Lowers chances of collisions)
-People who are being chased, would be losing a lot by driving full speed, therefore, their common sense should tell them to leave the AB. (Mine would)

Many people hated the idea of a speed limit on the AB in the 1st place, but, maybe a lower limit is the way to go. Don't just read the "lower the limit" bit and think no. Read the reasoning Wink

RE: Kyoto layout - Stunna - 2012-02-07 01:12

No one will slow down no matter what the speed limit is set to.

(2012-02-07 01:12)Stunna Wrote:  No one will slow down no matter what the speed limit is set to.

Partly true. The majority of people won't, but some (probably those who cant afford to lose a lot of money) will, therefore reducing the chances of collisions.

Think about it tho, if you drive at a constant 130mph around the AB now, you pretty much lose nothing per lap. If you drive that speed, with a 75 limit, you will be losing well over 100 a lap. It shouldn't take long for people to work out that high speed km runs just won't make mathematical sense. No?

(2012-02-07 01:12)Stunna Wrote:  No one will slow down no matter what the speed limit is set to.

I disagree.

Think about it, if you're losing -50 speeding around because of a 75mph limit, you're likely to either slow down or turn off the Autobahn, you simply cannot afford to keep speeding.

RE: Kyoto layout - FR4NOx - 2012-02-07 02:33

A 75mph speed limit would be UF1 gold for farming the AB. Smile

Just like the 100mph XFG/XRG gold mine we have now?
