Video editing software - Ras - 2013-12-27 23:32

I'm looking into getting new software for video editing for YouTube. What can people recommend?

Wouldn't mind if it's fairly easy to use, but still not as simple and boring as Windows Live Movie Maker (what i use now).

Doesn't have to be free but not pricey either.

If you are wanting to go serious with youtube, i would highly recommend saving up for Sony Vegas Pro. Fantastic software, it is quite complicated but you start learning the tricks you can do with it quite quickly. I wouldn't get the new one as it is expensive. Sony Vegas 11 is cheaper.

Depends on what kind of editing you would like to do.

For simple stuff VirtualDub is enough.

I would personally suggest Sony Vegas Pro (not the "Movie Studio") and Adobe After Effects.

Adobe Premiere Pro is easy to use. The new CC version supports OpenCL and CUDA on certain GPUs, if that appeals to you at all.

Vegas has a steep learning curve, which is why I prefer Premiere Pro.

I've tried Lightworks which seems very mature.

I have tried lightworks, and i was going to recommend it.

It does seem like a mature program, but i found it more difficult to navigate than Sony Vegas. But from what i have seen it is a good program, it looks flexible too.

Quote:in fact, that the program has regularly been used to help produce top Hollywood movies such as Mission Impossible and Batman.

For real? Ohmy

If you're getting Sony Vegas, don't crack it. I have never ever been this bothered with a program in my entire life. For me it's more unstable than a alcoholic Norwegian viking. Which is pretty unstable.

Have you ever been bothered to lookup a price for Sony Vegas? Wink

Adobe After Effects is great to use, has a lot of editing options but can take a while to learn.

I use powerdirector.. it's quite easy to use and works great for those who would like to keep it simple. You can expand your skils if you'd wanted that.
