Being a COP. - Cherry - 2014-03-02 18:03

Hello, I'm having issues with being a cop. I don't know why I should be, but all the other players are making it hard for me to be a cop, I'm getting blamed for every little thing that I see other cops do, I went though the Training and all but it's just feels like I'm getting picked on by every one. I'm not the fastest at typing but really... just so much hate on me. I do the job, I lose almost every chase, and all I get is grief on me. The job is making not want to do anything. Sad Please help me with this issue that I'm having.

Cherry

If anyone is being insulting towards you/being unreasonable towards you or anything like that, please report it and I can assure you it will be dealt with.

RE: Being a COP. - Cherry - 2014-03-02 18:09

I don't think I can report them, I'm too nice. And that can bring more hate to me. Sad

RE: Being a COP. - Saphira - 2014-03-02 18:23

You are still a relatively new cop to the Servers, give it time to settle into the world of copping on TC. Becoming a good cop does not happen over night, yes you did well in your training but this does not give a true reflection to copping on TC servers. If you find other cops blaming you then like BP said report it and rest assured it will be dealt with.

Yeah we can understand your frustration and we have noticed that hate towards new people aswell. We all sometimes get annoyed at the mistakes new players can make, but if it goes out of hand and they even insult you instead of showing you how it's done, then i would really suggest a report.

And don't be scared as long as you stick to the rules there is nothing to worry about, loose as many chases as you like it's the only way to improve.

RE: Being a COP. - Mikee - 2014-03-02 18:50

I actually understand this, Few weeks ago I went on a undercover account and was a COP for a bit. The amount of the abuse that is thrown around is stupid and no one is willing to help you unless you make a name on the server for yourself. Even if you do a good move, other cops started saying "Ohh that's harsh etc" But If I did that on my account I would of got "ohhh nice" because of the TC Tag. Its ridiculous. It is something that I'm going to try to crack down on.

It's really stupid, Like yourself you feel like you no longer want to cop because you may do something where everyone flames you.

Best Advice I can give you, If it's to the point where people are abusing you to much you need to report them even if you feel that people will hate you for it, It's better to TC members deal with it. Take it on the chin and learn from your mistakes. You will get it in the end.

A lot of key points have been mentioned here, we are a community and we should all be supporting each other, unfortunately that is not always the case hence why we have admins. Nice or not don't be afraid to just !tc anything to the admins, they will deal with it privately.

Also, as Saphira has mentioned, you are a new cop. It takes a lot of experience to become a well respected cop, you can be a bad cop or a good cop but its all about having fun that's the idea and don't be afraid to contact a trainer either, we are here to help and give advice, we specialise around copping in the servers and if you are not doing anything wrong then there is nothing to be afraid about, just ignore the people that give the grief or contact an admin, bullies do exist on the internet too unfortunately.

RE: Being a COP. - Cherry - 2014-03-02 19:02

Ok, I'll try to do that in the future. Thanks you. Smile

RE: Being a COP. - Toni - 2014-03-02 19:46

If you are losing many chases for example when chasing a XRT or a faster car, just try to keep tje distance to them.

Or do it my way and "get" into the copping things by chasing the +4 cars like i did when i started copping a while ago.

RE: Being a COP. - Edwin - 2014-03-02 21:44

I would give it some time and practise the layouts and tracks more. Every cop, even the best on the servers, has been in the position you're in now. When you gain some more experience you may be one of the best cops on the server! If other cops are giving you grief then simple tell them you're new, only the idiotic ones wouldn't understand Smile

I'd just love to reiterate this bit:

I'd also just like to point out, if you aren't willing to report people, don't expect us to do anything. We can only deal with issues that we are aware of.

RE: Being a COP. - Warped - 2014-03-03 06:24

After reading the OP, the amount of compassion grew inside me. I have seen some people being rude against you. As said already, report them. Happily, not every cop that is in the server isn't as annoying as the ones who were being abusive towards you. Picking on or other kind of bullying should be dealt up immediately.

My advice on being a cop is, try to get familiar with the binds (!laser, !chase, !move etc.) and chase some slower cars at first. When joining a backup call, make sure that the suspect's car is something you could keep up with.

Don't give up on copping; I'm sure that you will be a good cop at the end of the day.

RE: Being a COP. - Chuck - 2014-03-03 07:33

Reporting won't help much, unless it's a case of actual abuse. But in most cases it's just endless criticism and, like I call it, "wiseassery". Not only against cops, but against everyone. I.e. a random driver who moved 0,5 seconds too late for a chase gets instantly moaned at etc. Some people would rather blow the whole chase just to stop and start moaning. Every little mistake of someone else gets instantly criticised and reported. That's an actual social problem. Maybe the people here will understand that this is a just game or a hobby, not an Olympic sport where only the top 20 of the world have a word. At least that's what I wish.
It may be more than a coincidence that people arrange "fun-chases" since the real ones aren't fun enough. That's actually sad.

RE: Being a COP. - Connor - 2014-03-03 08:09

Well seeing you at advanced training yesterday, I don't know what those other cops are moaning about. You're pretty good at some pretty hard maneuvers and picked up what we were teaching you pretty quickly.

What I think is that the other cops are just blaming who they see is new for their own mistakes; but if that's the case then I'd take it as constructive criticism and just reply with, "Right cheers for the advice...now improve on your own copping" or something like that.

I bet half the cops that criticize you haven't taken advanced training or failed it.

Keep your chin up and head up high Cherry, I know you're a good cop and others should see that too. Smile

RE: Being a COP. - Paul - 2014-03-03 12:44

Cherry,

What most people here allready said, your new in the TC servers.

I saw you on the advanced training yesterday.. You were doing just fine, learned quickly and showed off your improvements. Don't take the hate to seriously, they also might be just jelous.

Just keep up the work I have seen yesterday, then you'll be allright!

RE: Being a COP. - Jimmy - 2014-03-03 13:06

RE: Being a COP. - Cherry - 2014-03-05 02:34

Well, some one that was taunting me to chase him, he got in the way of the COP work too. thus I tapped him after I quit being a COP and he flips out. now I have one warning over my head. Sad

RE: Being a COP. - Pipa - 2014-03-05 11:19

Just tell them no and ignore them. And if they get in the way you can report them for rule 2.1.

Quote:2.1. Do not harass police officers.

- Do not donut or drift around stationary cops.
- If a cop asks you to move away, do so and leave them to do their job.
- Do not block parked cops. They may need to drive off quickly.
- Do not attempt to disable speed traps

If he continues to bug you and keeps harrassing you then feel free to report him, but please don't retaliate.
