Major Gameplay Changes: InSim Version 2.70 - Pete - 2014-04-22 16:02

Hi,

Chuck and the team have been busy implementing and testing a number of large changes to the way server roles - [COP], [TOW] & [MED]/[RES] - work.

Every role now requires special licenses, which can be viewed on your [TC] CityDriving license page eg. http://insim.city-driving.co.uk/license.php?username=chucknorris

Every player will need to acquire these new licenses in order to continue playing as [COP], [TOW] or [MED]/[RES]. In essence, your ability to play as these roles has been suspended until you acquire the corresponding licenses. If your cop rights are revoked then you will not only need to take the license test but you will also need to pass a training session with the [TC] Training team.

The motivation behind this is so that we can ensure people playing those roles have at a least a minimum level of knowledge. It has become very common that new players play these roles without having even read the rules once. They don't know which horn to use and when !caution is to be used etc.
All licenses are revocable by admins, so if you fail to follow the rules, your license may be revoked. Even for [TOW] and [MED]/[RES].

Licenses are acquired via an online test which is activated from within a Safe Zone on the [TC] CityDriving servers. Here are some instructions on how to get started:

  1. Head to a Safe Zone and click the HOME button, then click “Licenses”.
  2. Here you will be presented with a list of licenses you are eligible to apply for. If you have driven less than 2,500km then you will not be eligible to take the [COP] test until you have done so. The [TOW] and [MED]/[RES] tests will be available for everyone straight away.
  3. Every license is valid for one year. The [COP] test costs €2,500, whilst the [TOW] and [MED]/[RES] costs €1,000.
  4. The mentioned price is considered the entry-fee for the test. If you need multiple attempts to pass, you will need to sign-up and pay again.
  5. To take a test click “(Sign Up)” next to the license you wish to apply for.
  6. Next you will be prompted to pay the license sign up fee.
  7. Once you've done all of the above, you will be ready to take your test. Copy your unique test code link into a browser and follow the instructions within.
  8. The [COP] test consists of 20 randomly sampled questions from a pool. The [TOW] test currently consists of 21 questions and the [MED]/[RES] test 16. The questions are multiple choice and some questions require more than one answer.
  9. If you pass your test, your license will usually take no more than 10 minutes to activate.
  10. If you fail your test you will be able to take it again after a cooldown period. The cooldown period for the [COP] test is 7 days and the cooldown period for the [TOW] and [MED]/[RES] test is 1 day.
Please be aware: The tests are not trivial. Be prepared, read the rules, the guides, the manual and the fine-list. Do not merely rely on the fact that you've been a cop for years or these tests will beat you.

Another addition to your CityDriving license page are badges. We have currently implemented badges for the following:
  • [TC] Members
  • Affiliate Teams
  • Training Team Members
  • DJ’s
  • Special Awards

If you are a member of any of the aforementioned groups and have not yet received a badge, please notify your team or group leader.

Other InSim updates include:
  • If you respond to a call for help, you now have 5 minutes to reach the scene before the response times out.
  • Med/Res vehicles cannot be chased while they are responding to calls.
  • Upon arriving within 50m of a tow scene, you will be declared “On the scene”.

There is a Q&A thread in general discussions where we will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
