Pripyat, 30 years later. - Howlin - 2014-12-20 03:13

So, I found this video a few weeks back and it's one of the best combinations of music to video i've ever seen.

Anyways, the video shows the city of Pripyat almost 30 years after the Chernobyl disaster. The city has been reclaimed by nature after it was abandoned and I for one think it's one of the most creepy, haunting, sad and yet fascinating places in the world, would love to visit one day. The guy who recorded the video used a drone to capture the footage and it just shows how nature has recaptured the land so much over 28 years.

I'm not one for sharing these kinds of things usually but I thought this video was too eye opening and brilliant for me to not share it.

TBh, there're hundreds of abondened cities on the post-USSR space, much more impressive than Pripyat', especially in Syberia and Far-East. But due-to the vandals the atmosphere of these ghost-towns is corrupted. If you want to feel the 'smell' of abondoned places, try searching for villages instead.

I've got myself an old house not far away from the city I live, that I have visited myself a few weeks ago. It was abondended for 30 or 40 years, even the roof got rotten and almost fell down.

Here're some pics for those of you who might be impressed with such kind of things:

I've used a flash on the mobile phone as it was dark as hell there, so the photos might look bad.
Nothing was touched there for that huge period of time, even I was surprised haha Wink

It's so weird seeing things just left alone, the thing that makes Pripyat special though is the fact that it's and entire city abandoned in such a rush. You can tell it was left in a rush and it makes it that more creepy.

Nice pictures btw, do you plan on renovating the house? Smile

And I think I know why..

Is it maybe because, we expect to see such environment in black and white in little detail and when we look at the images it is interesting?
