GTA V Stuttering issues - Dowpy - 2015-04-15 16:15

Hello guys, i'm just gonna make this short.

I bought GTA V but i can barely play it, my game keeps stuttering and freeze for few seconds. I've disabled most of the options in graphics and advanced graphics but it doesn't help.

I've downloaded the new Nvidia drivers aswell, if you have this problem or had, what did you do to fix it? Help is greatly appreciated, i'll post my specs down below.

Thanks

This area should be fine Smile

I presume you have made sure this isn't occuring on other games Dowpy?

Try reinstalling your drivers if you haven't already. Do some memory tests to see if it picks up any possible GPU errors. I had a similar issue on games like Battlefield (high memory games) but it wasn't a constant thing, does it occur EVERY time you try playing it?

Also make sure all your hardware is working correctly on GTA.

Use an on screen display to see if you can spot out any hardware that is overworking. Your setup should be more than capable of running it though, so I'm confident it's not the issue, but it's worth a check as the freezing is sometimes a sign of memory issues like not enough ram, but 8GB should be fine so just have a look anyways.

I used the G80 Memory tester to find out the possible problem with my old 970.

I found a load of errors on that and after replacing my card I have 0. It is an out of date software for the GTX series but it gives you an idea.

Your OS is the 64 bit version, correct?

I can play battlefield etc with no problems, but i see that alot of people has this problem, maybe its just GTA that needs update or something.

I tried most of what you asked me to do but i cant see anything that would be a problem, ill try reinstall drivers again. Thanks alot Luke.

This sounds too bad to be this fixes' problem, but GTA IV used to stutter badly and this fixed it for me, not sure about GTA V though.
Whether it's a good thing to be doing computer wise I don't know lol Tongue

Go to your Task Manager, click Services, right click "Windows Event Log" and turn it off. Dunno why it works, but it does.

Odd, I'm having the same problem. However my CPU is bottlenecking my system alot. It's running it 98-100% all the time. The first minute or so of gameplay is perfectly fine though. Very odd. Going to try overclocking it a bit if nothing else cuts it.

This should help

RE: GTA V Stuttering issues - Pipa - 2015-04-16 08:19

Doubt overclocking will help as there are a few people having the same problems and some with quite powerful systems.

RE: GTA V Stuttering issues - Venom - 2015-04-16 16:55

I'm having the same problem but in my case it's low available RAM I guess. As when I start playing, there is 1 GB of memory available and game is running smoothly. Then it starts to fill up to 300 MB available memory and then it stutters. Gonna ugrade my RAM to 8 GB this weekend.

I got 8GB ram, that should not be a problem.

RE: GTA V Stuttering issues - Cola - 2015-04-16 20:01

Just to be completely sure, did you update the graphics driver? I updated mine to the AMD Beta one today, and now it runs fine. I get 45-70 FPS from a 6 year old AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz Quad-core processor, 12GB of ram and an R9 270X. Ironically the GPU is sitting at around 30-40% usage. I run the game scaled down to 1440x900 with everything on medium. (FPS > Graphics any day Tongue)

I've updated the drivers twice to make sure, still runs like crap, my fps keep stutter from between like 60-80 fps to 20-40... Keeps going back up and down. I've tried most of the options people have told me too, still no luck. Seems like alot of people got this problem with ALOT better computers so idk.

I could play for 30minutes 60FPS steady, then stuttering and fps drop came back again.... I really dont know what to do anymore, i've tried so many different things, none works.

Thanks tho, i appreciate it.

Changing your power plan to High Performance will sometimes work. You could try it.

RE: GTA V Stuttering issues - Pipa - 2015-04-17 08:44

Another something i have found:

http://www.reddit.com/r/GrandTheftAutoV_PC/comments/32trjz/what_i_did_to_fix_my_stuttering_and_rendering/

And killing the launcher completely will apparently crash your game after around 30 mins.

That could explain why mine is crashing then. Good find.
