Play button for GIFs - Otava - 2015-04-25 17:24

I suggest to make a play button for gifs because if you are watching gifs in forum, it lags a lot

Certain .gifs already have that. If you upload your .gifs to https://gfycat.com/ (which I recommend), you may then use [gfy]URLhere[/gfy] code. Note: Sometimes it does not work (i.e., your .gif does not show up). It will fix itself by refreshing the page.

I know, but most of the people dont seem to use it so it would be nice

Yes, that's unfortunate. Also, opening the LFS gifs thread is quite painful, as you have said. My browser usually crashes whilst having the thread open for more than ten seconds.

Or people could just spoiler their gifs.

I think this is not how to solve it because of there is already gifs what are not and secondly it loads them still

3 rules:

- get a better computer
- give everyone who posts 50mb gifs a serious kick in the butt
- only one gif per post ( = less images per forum page)

RE: Play button for GIFs - Barney - 2015-04-25 19:22

that. i even would go for 10mb per gif. wouldnt it be possible to implement that? checking gif size by the forum i mean.
even a like almost ten second gif can be only 5mb max. ppl just need to learn it.
-under 10 sec
-under 10mb
-no moving cam
-max 800px*600px
for everything else we have youtube. gifycat thingy makes it even worse for me.

i have a almost 8year old pc and no problems in gifthread as long as there's no gifycat in.

Gfy reduces the required performance iirc, but rules would be nice about gifs.

I try using the gfy tags on my gifs but they don't seem to work very well on the forums, some gifs it works, others it doesn't. Quite strange, hence why nobody bothers using them.
