Important changes regarding horns and sirens + New version of TCLights - Pete - 2016-03-27 04:49

Hello,

We have overhauled the way horns and sirens are going to work in CityDriving and we recommend that you read this post so that you know what's changed and what's new.

TL;DR

Download the new and improved version of TCLights: Download TCLights v2.0 (tc-g.uk/TCLights)
Download the new recommended siren pack: Download Recommended Sirens (city-driving.co.uk/downloads)

The rules, manual and license tests have been updated to reflect the changes to the siren mechanism.

Big thanks to Elmo for promptly updating the InSim and creating a new version of TCLights. Thanks to everyone who helped to test the new version. If you discover any bugs or have trouble in getting it to work, please use the TCLights v2.0 discussion thread

What's new?

Live for Speed 0.6N introduced several new commands to toggle 2 separate sirens. We have updated our InSim such that only those using a [COP], [MED] or [RES] tag have access to the new sirens. They work as follows:

Start fast siren
/siren=fast

Start slow siren
/siren=slow

Turn siren off
/siren=off

Elmo has updated TCLights to support these new sirens. We recommend that you update to this newest version as it is designed specifically to work with LFS 0.6N. Thanks to everyone who helped to test the new version. If you discover any bugs or have trouble in getting it to work, please use the TCLights v2.0 discussion thread

What’s changed?

HORN4 will now serve as a bullhorn and HORN5 will now serve as a piercer. Please note that this will require you to update your sound files. We recommend the new police siren pack from our website: city-driving.co.uk/downloads

SirenFast and SirenSlow must now be used as your main sirens.

We have updated the siren pack to reflect the new changes. We have also updated the rules, manual and license tests to comply with these changes.

The updated rules are as follows:

CityDriving Rules Wrote:
Rule 1.6 Wrote:1.6. The following are reserved as sirens for emergency vehicles:
- Horn #4 (bullhorn) and horn #5 (piercer)
- Slow siren (/siren=slow) and fast siren (/siren=fast)

Rule 4.10 Wrote:4.10. Responding to an SOS-call
4.10.5. An audible siren (slow or fast) should be used when responding to an SOS call, especially when close to other players. A "bullhorn” (horn 4) or a "piercer" siren (horn 5) may be used for short periods and only in exceptionally dangerous circumstances.

Rule 11.5 Wrote:11.5. Responding to a SOS-call
11.5.5. An audible siren (slow or fast) should be used when responding to an SOS call, especially when close to other players. A "bullhorn” (horn 4) or a "piercer" siren (horn 5) may be used for short periods and only in exceptionally dangerous circumstances.

Rule 5.2 Wrote:5.2. Sirens
Cops must use visual sirens (!siren+/-) at all times when in chase. Note: the visual siren is automatically enabled when the !chase command is used.
An audible siren (slow or fast) must be used when other vehicles are near. A "bullhorn” (horn 4) or a "piercer" siren (horn 5) may be used for short periods and only in exceptionally dangerous circumstances.

Rule 5.6 Wrote:5.6. Flashing lights must be used when in a chase.
As a minimum, you must use either flashing headlights (3 key) if possible, or hazard lights (9 key) and headlights (3 key) if you do not have a third party program.

The following manual pages have been updated to reflect these changes:
  • http://www.city-driving.co.uk/manual/med_guide
  • http://www.city-driving.co.uk/manual/tow_vs_med
  • http://www.city-driving.co.uk/manual/police_guide

The COP, MED/RES and TOW tests have been updated to reflect these changes.

Many thanks,
