What tools/programs do you use when on TC? - McGherkin - 2011-10-14 21:52

What do you use when you're cruising TC? Be it a rev bouncer, a virtual dash, or even a car alarm, share it with us!

Here are my top 5 TC programs.

1. WifiPad http://www.wifipad.com/

Create a custom set of buttons on any iOS device, and set them to various key commands. As you can see, this pad is used for copping, but you can make a pad for any use - and with any appearance - you like. Switching between pads is relatively simple, so you can probably use more than one page (assuming you have that many assignable keys!) Screen cracks not included.

2.VLFSDash http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=64677

Pretty much the best live telemetry for LFS going. View live data from your car on another monitor (or even a mobile device with a screen viewer). Accurate, and can be used when watching other cars (if you set Outgauge mode to 2).

3. Automatic Transmission Simulator 5.6b http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=55636

Does what it says on the tin. I mainly use this for cruising as a MED, cause it's easy Rolleyes. Economic if you want to save fuel, but can get a bit annoying, so stick it in sport mode and you'll love it. Hold gear when going at speed and it'll work like a semi auto - if you forget to shift, it'll do it anyway.

4. iTunes Remote http://www.apple.com/itunes/remote/

Another iOS app, this one controls iTunes from your iOS device. Think of it as connecting your iPod up to your car stereo. Good if you use headphones, or only have one set of decent speakers. Just run iTunes in the background of LFS and hey presto.

5. Steam http://store.steampowered.com

Everyone uses Steam these days. It allows you to browse the web, chat with friends, and share news all without minimising, alt-tabbing or windows-tabbing LFS. Invaluable, and there's plenty an offer to be had on some really good games too.

4.ts3

Very nice McG. I'll definitely try out that Wifipad.

I downloaded the "3. Automatic Transmission Simulator 5.6b" thing, it's pretty buggy with the gear changes, though that's probably to be expected, but I do like the indicator sounds lol.

WifiPad was awesome, until i got an error message when i tried to open it back up again lol

RE: What tools/programs do you use when on TC? - Tommer - 2011-10-15 09:10

Si.exe - A script based program by me that checks if winamp, lfs cops or lfs strobe is open and if not opens then, then moves winamp to the top left of my secondary screen, opens my strobe file in lfs strobe, moves lfs strobe under winamp, moves lfs cops under winamp checks if LFS is running if it is puts it in focus if it's not runs it Smile

Try checking the number of gears the car is listed as having. It's probably wrong. I had it too, it was just a case of tweaking the settings IIRC.

Knight, I'll do a tutorial in a new thread, to avoid filling up this one. A few people have already asked me so I'll tell everyone Wink

Can't get the VLFSDash working, could you tell me how to get it working? ;o

RE: What tools/programs do you use when on TC? - McGherkin - 2011-10-15 15:47

Check your LFS.cfg against this.

lfs.cfg Wrote:OutGauge Mode 2
OutGauge Delay 1
OutGauge IP 127.0.0.1
OutGauge Port 11111
OutGauge ID 0

The port in VLFS should be set to 11111 too.

Why would you use Siri though? To remind you that you can't speed as a cop? What?

RE: What tools/programs do you use when on TC? - Malibu - 2011-10-19 11:56

Maybe for googling, but can't think of anything else..
