Discord | CityDriving Admin interaction - Brad - 2017-08-28 17:11

As you may know, within the public [TC] Discord server we did have the below channel:

#admin-attention-no-discussions

There has been some confusion over time as to what is and what isn’t deemed urgent enough to be posted there. It seems there is demand for a portal which allows you to ask generic, non-urgent questions to [TC] CityDriving members.
For that reason we have decided to make a few changes:

1) #admin-helpdesk

This replaces the current channel and is an area to ask a member of [TC], whether it be directed to a CityDriving admin or forum admin, generic and typically non-urgent questions.

All requests are still to be posted on the forum in the suitable area. For example, this area isn’t for unban queries, forum name change requests, etc.

2) !admin

It is important to say that this channel / feature is on a TRIAL BASIS only.
  • Using a new !admin command within our LFS servers, this will post your message to an admin-only channel within Discord
  • This is on a trial basis at the moment as we need to ensure this will not be abused. Before using this new command, we would urge you to ask yourself three key questions:
1) Have I tried dealing with this myself, first? As with any user-report situation: Try to deal with this yourself, first, by speaking to the individual in a sensible and reasoned way

2) Is an admin currently online? If so, do not use this feature (unless the admin is AFK).

3) Is the issue serious and urgent enough to warrant an admin rather than a forum report? Consider the seriousness of what you’re reporting:
>a. “User is frequently drifting the roundabout” – unlikely to be urgent in nature

Ultimately, if we receive messages via this command which do not fit the above prerequisites, it will result in fewer admins monitoring the channel, and thus will make the entire feature less effective. We will also take appropriate action against those users who do not use this for the advertised purpose.

It is the responsibility of all of you to ensure this not prematurely retired as a feature!
