Just a general discussion please

Red light - everyone knows to stop and not cross lights on red. You pass and you get fined if cops catch you

Yellow light - If you cross on yellow (before it changes to red) Can the cops chase and fine you? Providing the yellow light changed JUST before you pass the lights? Just curious as I have had a COP tell me that they can fine you on yellow light aswell

Regards

p.s. Not here for arguments. Just Curious to know

I cross yellow lights in real life whether it's about to turn red or about to turn from yellow to green. I see nothing wrong with that unless you cross the intersection at red, then you are screwed.

Maybe have a look at this: https://world.city-driving.co.uk/?page=manual&man=traffic_lights

I know for a fact that in the UK and Germany, entering a junction on yellow is not allowed / only permitted if not safe otherwise.
See https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/light-signals-controlling-traffic
or https://dejure.org/gesetze/StVO/37.html

Thanks Chunk,

That answers that. I was right. I will show the COP who argued this with me, the link you have shown Smile Many thanks

Same as Chuck, here in France you can only cross the junction at amber if you can't stop safely. Theoretically, if cops sees that you crossed amber because you didn't want to stop, they might fine you. (theoretically though)

In Germany not only theoraticly. There is a official fine for passing a yellow light --> 10 €

Only way to avoid is, when it isn´t possible to break without danger. Some car mate of me happend this. Even the laway said: "bad luck, you have to pay".

traffic laws are prety much the same across europe nowdays.. you can only pass yellow if you can't stop safely.. (be it because of speed or traffic behind you)
