Thought I should pass this on: http://www.rockmelt.com/

Past the cheesy strap-line this is worth taking a look at. Although it's still undergoing development, they've made a fairly good start at developing a browser which provides a nice selection of features to bring us closer to our friends online whilst still giving us a super-fast, super-slick browsing experience. RockMelt is built around Google's open source project Chromium. It offers all of the same features as Chrome, runs as fast, feels as robust and provides us with a good compromise between Chrome's stripped-down UI and Opera's more "toolbar-happy" approach to web browsing.

If you wish you could access social media without the need to be on the corresponding site all of the time then RockMelt is worth a try.

Chrome is still the best development environment but with a bit more work, this more up-beat version might steal a bit of the thunder.

Can it run Chrome extensions? If not, then I can't use it, I need Reddit Enhancement Suite haha.

All these spinoff browsers Tongue first it's Waterfox now it's Rockmelt..

It's scary how browsers are copying mobile phones in this sense of being a notification stream as well as a browser. To be honest I think it would largely distract me from more important things but i'll give it a try none the less lol.

Edit: It's alright, there's a little too much going on for my liking, feels like i'm in spaceship central with a UI top left right and all these indicators Tongue Having my picture in the top left looks plain tacky though.

Don't like the way it loads pages. Firefox preloads the page then displays it. Wheras this is switching to a white blank canvas and displaying things as it loads it which looks plain tacky.

What important stuff what that be? Furry based pornography, updating facebook statuses and ranting about TC layouts?

I lile Chrome because it's simple and doesn't spam me with irrelevant bull shit that I don't need. I don't do social networking and I definately don't need a news feed telling me what my friends are doing. I don't care. If it's important, then tell me - Not the internet - me. I use the "Go outside with friends" feature that life offers for free. It's awesome. The day that I can't go online without seeing ads for interweb friends etc. everywhere, I'm terminating my internet connection.

Someone's abit sore today. For someone who was quick to drop the ban hammer on the mention of a file sharing website you sure enjoy swearing and insulting eh.

There's no need to poke a stick in my face because I've had a rough time. It's true that I had a rant about the [TC] Layout's recently, and that was largely fueled by a poor mood after my breakup. I apologized and moved on, can you to please?

As for the Furry based pornography comment, I have no idea where that's come from, you can stop making stuff up to throw at my face please. It's neither true, or funny or clever and largely insulting.

Anywho.

It got me laughing so it's kinda funny..

Anyway, feel kind of the same way as Leon. Chrome is perfect, can't imagine something I'd like different. As for the social networking, it's sometimes interesting to see what others have been doing but I wouldn't like it updating me constantly.

RE: RockMelt - Cola - 2012-05-21 14:50

I dont like this. Been using it for a couple a month, before I stopped using it a couple of weeks ago. Kept getting 2 message from every single facebook notification. Both in browser, and while on facebook, also sucks to be online on FB chat all the time. Doesn't work with newest AdBlock+ either..

RE: RockMelt - Roba - 2012-05-21 15:10

I'll give it a try, not gonna use FB so probably not a problem for me Smile
