Talk about the game here, not bugs or what your soldier name is cause there are threads for that:

It's a good game. I'll still play BF2 though, can't beat that imo.

To repeat my question from the BF3 Bugs Thread:
Is BF3 worth its money?
Can I restrict the Origin.exe and still play online?

Its worth all the money, I would pay 100 euros for it. About the bugs, dont worry there are many updates coming.

I think you can stop Origin from scanning your files by running it in a program called Sandboxie, not sure though.

Make a 2nd windows account and restrict folders for that account. Everything that origin shouldn't have access to basicly.

RE: General BF3 talk thread - Chuck - 2011-11-01 18:20

You don't have to have Origin to be running all time. Start the game though
Battlenet, with a browser. Though it will start Origin too, but you can close
it instantly again. BF3 will run fine.

Yes, you can block the outgoing connections via the Host file.

Simpsons@Youtube Wrote:This is how to do it.
open the file
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
You will have to open the file in notepad.
enter the following lines after the last line in the file

127.0.0.1 ci-main.loginregistration.eadm.ea.com
127.0.0.1 motd.dm.origin.com
127.0.0.1 store.origin.com
127.0.0.1 drh.img.digitalriver.com
127.0.0.1 drh2.img.digitalriver.com
127.0.0.1 drh1.img.digitalriver.com
127.0.0.1 eaeacom.112.2o7.net
127.0.0.1 b.scorecardresearch.com
127.0.0.1 heartbeat.dm.origin.com
127.0.0.1 web.dm.origin.com
127.0.0.1 loginregistration.dm.origin.com
127.0.0.1 friends.dm.origin.com:443
127.0.0.1 avatar.dm.origin.com:443
127.0.0.1 ecommerce.dm.origin.com

127.0.0.1 gosredirector.ea.com
127.0.0.1 blazeserver.blazeemu.org
127.0.0.1 gosgvaprod-qos01.ea.com
127.0.0.1 gosiadprod-qos01.ea.com
127.0.0.1 gossjcprod-qos01.ea.com
127.0.0.1 demangler.ea.com
127.0.0.1 vmp.tools.gos.ea.com

The first lines will stop your connection to Origin. So you can start Fifa without connecting to Origin.
The second lines will stop Fifa from communicating to EA servers.
You can use one or both. Depends upon you

I'm not sure if you can still play online after you've blocked it via the Hosts file though.

Yes and gladly the teamwork got my skill rating positive again Tongue.

Obviously you can, but then you won't be able to play online anymore. It is really that annoying i'm afraid.

BB, If your soooo woried about it looking at some of your files why get it? Its not a dangerous program, im pretty sure DICE dont want to hack you for all your gay porn Tongue

Theres nothing to fear DICE wont look through your PC, Origin actually told me my PC is running too slow to play BF3, so i closed some tasks and its like yea, you can play now Smile

RE: General BF3 talk thread - Malibu - 2011-11-02 20:12
