What Audiojack said, Zippy. You might want to get that fixed right away, before the spring snaps.

RE: Show us your ride - Zipppy - 2013-05-03 20:45

I'm looking up the parts right now. I let my college prof know as well. he also said that replacing the whole strut would be quicker, and it costs $66.

Just doesn't look tight to me. My buddies Rokkor on his right front on his mk3 does the same.

Info about my car. I got a Momo wheel, coilovers (installing next weekend) a NOS VW roofrack, and working on wheels! We also stripped my buddies mk1 had it painted and reassembled it!

My parents don't trust me with the car... They think I'll mess it up. Their excuse? The fact that I'm not a licensed mechanic. Utter bull shit on their part.

RE: Show us your ride - Blade3562 - 2013-05-04 05:37

After 3 tiresome hours of driving and what is going to be a horrible 8 hr shift in 5.5 hours. The roofrack is on

Laugh You're absolutely right. Regular people can fix (esp. old cars) as well as mechanics as long as you can keep your thumb out of your butt and have the right tools and a lot of time..

RE: Show us your ride - Zipppy - 2013-05-04 22:42

Thing is, I don't have the tools for replacing it at home, therefore I have to do it at school. we have a gigantic garage there, with modern tools. I've helped a few of my classmates do some maintenance on their cars, and most recently, a 15 year old (it's actually 14) Mustang GT which was bought for $4,700 a few weeks ago.

Probably fun working on that Mustang Tongue

RE: Show us your ride - Zipppy - 2013-05-05 10:19

It was. The brakes needed to be replaced, and the front calipers as well. The previous owner welded a pipe in place of the muffler, so it sounded beastly. He still had the catalytic converter on though.

Unfortunately, my friend had to put mufflers back on for it to pass the safety test.

How does the muffler affect to the safety of it -.-

I have no idea.

The "safety" test is just a nickname for the emissions test, but they also check if the car has other problems.

This is what the "muffler" looked like, on both sides.

An update on my strut situation: my father is cool with it now, and recommends replacing the struts themselves as well. My mother won't let me drive to the garage alone. Even just driving it around the corner into it. She is afraid that I will crash the car, and insurance won't cover it.

Oh god your parents have serious problems on trusting you. Or at least your mother.

My dad bought my first car when I was 12, so at least he knows I can drive.. And when I get my licence I will be my moms personal driver Laugh
