RE: Show us your ride - B!ll - 2013-06-23 14:29

I found this topic so i told myself "post something too".

I have old Skoda Octavia I TDI, rv. 1997 with 81Kw chiped to 97Kw by Cimbu. I buyed it when Kilometers was on 267 000km or something and now iam on 378 000km

I did some updates on suspension (adjustable suspension), clutch (Single body flywheels), deactivated EGR and changed brake discs to Brembo max with same pads.

Engine got one "dead" because one piston has broken and destroyed the turbo which then sucked all the oil, so engine got stucked. This all happend when i got fun with some Mercedes on highway Rolleyes. Anyway repaired with basic parts and runing great (ufff Wink ).

This is first pictures when i buyed. (without updates so basically basic)

Did some fun when setting suspension Smile

What happend when basic clutch isnt builded for chiptuning Wink. Gone 35 000km after chiped.

All this because DAMNIT egr.. Death for ecologists!

RE: Show us your ride - Hexta - 2013-06-23 15:19

Love Skoda's, nice car Bill.

And damn, 378,000km = 234,878 miles that's insane!

Well, that's exactly what happens when you squeeze high revs and high speeds with old cars, why I haven't gone more than 140kph with my Sierra Tongue

And ofc, never do high-revs standing still or driving with cold engine Smile

RE: Show us your ride - Cola - 2013-06-23 15:36

That's some nice distance for that car, Bill. Biggrin

My dad had the Skoda Octavia TOUR 2006, and currently has the Skoda Octavia 2008 2.0 TDi. Both very nice cars.

I know but everyone want some fun when are bored Wink. Anyway yes you say it right. Revs was 4 500 and speed 210kph so it was only about time when engine say *Removed* you speeder Rolleyes

Thx Hexta and Cola, distance scaring me but this engine is builded for high kms (its engine code AHF) but not for young peoples what want drive like crazy dumb Wink

RE: Show us your ride - Kyllone - 2013-06-23 18:12

Well my brand new Volvo, I managed to crash it because of a bee inside the car that I was trying to swap out. Next thing I saw I was on grass and heading towards a bank and a tree. The car jumped a little and hit the tree just a little but not so much the car would've stopped there. Then just kept going to a ditch.

Amazingly all the parts in the engine and electronics and everything like that is perfectly ok. One thing keeping the wheel and suspension in place is bended a little bit. (dunno the word in english Tongue) On a 1989 car thats a easy and cheap thing to repair yourself. Other than that the Volvo works just as good as before.

The thing that I'm worried is that the bodywork in right-front has quite some damage. And that costs to fit in, will see what happens on this week. Sad Had a speed of 65-75 kp/h at the moment of the crash. Volvos seem to be safe to the driver atleast.

RE: Show us your ride - Johan. - 2013-06-23 18:23

Pff bee's won't do you anything... Wasps are worse when they get aggressive. Good that the Volvo is pretty much alright though.

RE: Show us your ride - Kyllone - 2013-06-23 18:34

Yeah well I ment that.

This thing;

Got rid of that red Thunderbird back in March (finally! Though put a dent in my pocket overall, that's the way those old cars go ...). Cut down from 4 wheels to two! Been riding this since April ... damn, it's fun.

My father's been looking for a new motorcycle. He's wanting a BMW R1200RT, His current F650GS needs a bit of repair, and he's wanting a larger bike for longer trips.

Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of his options, so an image from google will do of the model he wants. He has the choice between the 2007, 2008, and 2012 models. The 2007 has a lowered seat and suspension, and he's leaning more towards that one.

Excuse me, but what? The only sense in your post concerns revving a cold engine.

RE: Show us your ride - Johan. - 2013-06-26 13:35

Revving standing still... If thats ever a plausible thing.. Driving should be forbidden. Sad

BMW makes some awesome looking bikes. Thumbup1 But dat price tag ... haha

RE: Show us your ride - Cola - 2013-06-26 14:59

hehe, I prefer the R1200GS over that one, (my dad got one of them, so awesome and comfy)

RE: Show us your ride - Zipppy - 2013-06-26 15:06

He prefers the RT because it's lighter than the other bikes from other manufactuers in the class. He wants a lot of storage space for his stuff.

Also, he recently twisted the chain a bit on his GS. I could do the repairs on his bike, because he says he never has time, and he doesn't want to send it to the mechanic.

Doing a top speed runs on an old car with lots of mileage, something will probably break.

RE: Show us your ride - Johan. - 2013-06-26 16:01

That is nonsense Roba. A car that is 50 years old can do 200km/h just as fine as any new car. It all depends on its service history, and if the car never belonged to some douche with a backfire kit, revving the heck out of it with the cold engine, like you mentioned. Nothing wrong with revving your engine a bit while standing still. (A bit revving is not redlining the crap out of it)
