Is that a custom cold air intake?

It's pretty much proven useless if a) placed like that and b) placed on such a powerless car.

I have one in the Sierra too, but that was from one of the previous owners, am going to revert it back to original (gonna miss the sound though Sad)

Why take it off then? Is it doing any harm?

i only like it because sound is so custom when you step on throttle with that thing on but need to change back to stock soon, to car inspector dont like mods in engine i guess like when people look around what that noice come from haha

According to AJ, placed like that, it can only take away power (2-5HP) and I believe him Tongue

Depends on the way it's made. It's in the name, actually. Engines like air. Air is win. N/A engines suck in all the air they can to increase power. Many newer cars have turbochargers that force feed the car with air. Some have intercoolers which is a radiator for the air charge. The turbo forces air into the intercooler, which cools it down before it enters the combustion chamber. Cold air is denser than hot air = more air in a given amount of space. That's what the intercooler is for. All this is pointless if you allow the car to suck in hot air.

Jimmy, isn't your expansion tank almost empty?

Exactly, when you install a "cold air intake" in the engine bay without any insulation (airbox) it actually gets hotter air than from the stock intake. Usually this is +-0 but can cause loss of a couple of hp. The worst example I've seen is when a CAI was installed directly on top of the exhaust manifold, that's a hot air intake Laugh And the stock filters on modern cars don't restrict air flow any more than 90% of aftermarket pod filters.

It might add gains if you had a high powered car and the intake was installed for example into the bumper or somewhere where it gets actual cold air.

So that's a lecture for everyone interested in putting a CAI in their car Tongue

It's a basic V shaped cold air intake, right in front of the engine, in the middle. And no it has no heat covers. So it supposedly sucks warm air, and we suppose that it sucks warmer air than the original assembly does.

I don't know, in theory, itcould give a couple extra HP if it was placed neatly in the bumper, away from the engine, having opportunity to suck in cold air as possible. But I'm not gonna do that, not worth it. It's just a 2 liter N/A with 120HP lol.

Maybe with a Cosworth later on Wink

E: I'm missing the delete post option now, damn AJ >Sad

Before an official answer I'm gonna guess Indigoblau Perleffekt. According to a quick Google search that is "LB5N/7D"
