Holy Christ I didn't know stealing radios and such was still a thing. You can't use a stolen BMW radio, and if you try to get the code for it it will have been tagged in the system as stolen. why someone would steal a gauge cluster and steering wheel is beyond me.

That just really sucks. I hope you get a resolution that's not at your expense.

They get used by professionals to hide the identity of stolen vehicles.

retards even steal those auto-dimming mirrors... And yes, it's pretty bloody expensive to replace them..

Thank god I drive an Opel, so dumb thieves don't know that it has those fancy mirrors Biggrin

RE: Show us your ride! - Dracula - 2015-04-01 01:08

I may or may not be right here, but going off memory I think the reason they steal the steering wheels is because the airbags inside them sell for a fair bit of cash, especially from something like a BMW.

RE: Show us your ride! - Blade3562 - 2015-04-01 02:02

Yeah I didn't think about that but airbags are also registered to the vin and can be reported as stolen from what I recall. But Im not sure. Either way it's very unfortunate.

It's Russia Tongue There are folks who get a stolen car, get some bits, forge and hack the rest and ta-da, you can't trace it anymore.

Messing with the acceleration issue. It shudders like mad at the top end of first, it's like its losing then gaining traction and losing it.

Just to be completely sure: Have you turned off ESP?

In this video ASR is off. My car cannot completely disable ESP as it is used for the "electronic differential" which is really just brake management from my understanding.

It's really weird everyone calls it wheel hop but the wheel isn't hoping. I think this is something to do with the edge or traction and having too much power for the wheels.

RE: Show us your ride! - Cola - 2015-04-05 16:07

What it sounds like to me is the ESP kicking in to avoid wheelspin once you are at a certain speed. Our mk2 Skoda Octavia with the 2.0 TDI does that when you plant the throttle in 2nd gear and the wheels starts losing traction. It feels bumpy and can be described like 'hopping'.
