It tells a lot about the engine sound when u only rev it to like 2000rpm..

RE: Show us your ride! - RedJohn - 2016-02-11 19:28

If he revs more the engine will blow up

Doesn't sound to bad right? Wink

RE: Show us your ride! - Toni - 2016-02-12 04:06

Meh not so bad unless you go full *Removed* and rev it to 8k cause ur stupid af, and burn some oil cause you just overrevved it due to there being no revlimiter on your car, and your ears being too dumb.

Cheers for the comments Smile

I am stuck with a black box for the first year (literally the only way young drivers can get insured in the UK). After that, I can have a bit of fun with the car Biggrin

If anything, would it not be the manifold and/or cam shaft you will be putting under strain for over revving it when stationary? Since there's no resistance due to the car being stationary. VTEC engines are designed under a safe limit to handle such high revs so it's not dumb, it's just like any other engine, make sure it's warmed up and avoid bouncing it off the rev limiter if it's not capable of doing so (like some stock cars). Just my original thoughts, I ain't no expert Tongue

Usually it is the rods that blow or the head gasket, the camshaft rarely brake. it could also be the valve springs that cant keep up Tongue And when those goes to shit it makes an interesting noise Smile

I'm sorry, what? I'm glad you agree on not being an expert. The problem when stationary and without any load is that it's just easier to over-rev since the revs can pick up a lot faster. If the car is equipped with a rev-limiter, it shouldn't strain anything unless the engine is already suffering from partially blocked oil passages or worn bits. (Or if you've tuned your car beyond the limits of it's internal components.)

If there's no rev-limiter, then it's the same whether you do it on the highway or in your yard, cold revving and over-revving are always bad.

I didn't really even fully understand the VTEC part so I'm not going into that.
