VTS went up by £670 for my insurance which i just cant justify at the moment Smile

But na, ive been wanting a VTR for a long time. I think the interior is the best out of the whole saxo range, and going from a 1.5D to a VTR will be a mahoosive power difference for me anyway lol Tongue

Ah fair enough. That is a rather big difference. May I ask how much your paying on the VTR?

Enjoy it. I do hope you enjoy fixing them too though Sad

Ive literally spent all day doing the following:

New Lower Arms
New Anti Roll bar links
Standard height springs

Doing the passenger side Lower arm with the Driveshaft out from the hub, moved it a little and 2 litres of gearbox oil everywhere. Lovelyyy Blushing

Anti Roll bar link on one side didnt want to come off, so had to resort to an angle grinder and the 2 x 17mm nuts going through into the drivers side footwell for the lwoer arm is an absolute nightmare to get to. Carpet doesnt like to be moved :/

Passenger side lower arm was original though. Never been off. Not too sure about the drivers side.

Yeah, did that while ago, I guess I should remove it from my signature also. Bought another e34 tds touring to compensate. But what i'm really thinking about now is going from e34 to e39. Same story: Diesel and touring. I was reading this thread and i couldn't notice how some guys literally said that diesels are no good. I thought so too till i got to try one. I drive from home to work and back 140 kilometers every day.

When i used 2.0 liter petrol e34 touring i had to buy 20 liters gasoline every evening, so at the end of the month the bill was like 500 euros just to get to work and back. Then my friend recommended me the same car what i already had, only diesel version.

I was like "are you stupid, who drives with diesel? it smells bad, makes black smoke and sounds wierd compared to petrol engine"
Give it a try he said, and because at that point I didn't have anything to lose anymore.

And now, three months later, I can see that he was so right. Parts are cheap. Diesel is cheap compared to gasoline. Checked OBC few days ago and saw that average consumption is only 5.6 liters per 100 km (includes lot's of traffic signs in the city and living by the rule: "on green - i'm going for it"). At first the sound is bit weird, but all you have to do is get used with it I guess. When driving the car with driver side window open all I can hear is turbo whirling up and down, so it's pretty much music to my ears.

Here is a great example of that:
At the end of this all I can really say that i'm fairly happy at the moment, because all I ever wanted was a car that I could afford to maintain and keep in good shape. I know there are some people who probably say that ferraris and porsches are better. Guess what, you are right, they are...but it's all out of my league. Tongue

Anyway, i'm still not sure about e39. There is one good offer in the market now. E39 TDS Touring 3.0 141kw chipped to ~165kw. Car is mint for only 4000 euros. Smile

Pritt, you are so right. I think ill stay with diesels forever, mine is a diesel and damn.. Love it

RE: Show us your ride - Roba - 2012-06-27 18:12

I love my Sierra and damn.. That fuel consumption.. Sad

RE: Show us your ride - Johan. - 2012-06-27 18:20

I wouldn't mind a diesel once I've got my driver license. The only problem is, we've got an amazing roadtax wich is pretty high when you're driving a diesel-engine powered car.

RE: Show us your ride - Audiojack - 2012-06-27 19:29

Drove about 100 kilometers in the almighty Honda today. (Obviously my dad drove, I don't have my license yet)

And no, it isn't lowered, since my dad is going to use it while his Astra is being fixed, and he doesn't like lowering Laugh

Well my Diesel costs me 750 fully comp this year (After it being 2200 last year lol). The VTR will be 900, just literally processed it through, and they've given me a months temp cover for my diesel whilst i try to sell it, for £50 which is a bargain if you ask me! Smile

Cant wait to get it now Biggrin

And well hopefully *touch wood* i wont have to repair it. But my diesel was a pain at the beginning, but once you add a little bit of cash into it, it does treat you well in the end! Smile

Will miss it, i have to say Sad

It has a chrome oval bit on the end of it, I have just had it off for polishing and never got around to putting it back.

RE: Show us your ride - Roba - 2012-06-28 08:18

Btw, we discovered how to wipe Sierra's front lights with the wipers, but seems like the right side's wiper is completely dead.

RE: Show us your ride - rttnpig] - 2012-06-28 14:53

Planning on buying this in a near future. Once I start working.

exhausts would be black, same as rimes.

I got a few months until my brother needs it back actually. So far, I've cleaned it, and did some maintenance, regarding the drainage especially. The car itself is under my father's name.

The torque at idle is tremendous, making it hard to stall, good news for me, as I'm learning standard shift, but I have to do my lessons with an auto, due to it being much cheaper.

RE: Show us your ride - Hexta - 2012-06-29 13:22

nvm

I drive a petrol. But I much prefer diesels, higher torque, cheaper to run (you can drive for longer lol).

Definitely after a diesel for my 2nd car.

Ah thats not a bad price at all. Smile When I bought my GTI, because my renewal was 6 weeks away, they wouldnt give me a new policy, so had to add it onto my current one for £90. Its now £1027 for the year, but TPF&T rather than Fully Comp with 2 years NCB.

I guess mine was the same. The old 1.1 had to have a bit spent on it, but I never broke down or it never let me down. I used it for everything and anything. Over the 2 years, it had probably done about 100 miles of gravel rally stages flat out, a good few miles of Autotests and probably about 500 or so miles of lanes and country roads flat out too Tongue Loved the car soo much. A friend has it now, so I get to see it but I do miss it loads :/

The new one has had about £350 spent on it already and still needs a new beam; so about £600 in total when i'm done. But mechanical is perfect on it at the moment and it starts first time, everytime. Previous owner has recently put a new battery and Alternator on it, so thats all good too. Smile

RE: Show us your ride - R-Sport - 2012-07-02 03:43
