Illegal parking & COP messages

Hey guys,

yesterday when strolling around Montana and stopping by a few illegal-parked cars, I noticed that there are a few problems with getting the (possibly spectating or AFK) driver's attention - first of all, it's not really likely for everyone to check the chat all the time so in many cases the person does not even see when someone is contacting them. Secondly, many of the newcoming drivers are not familiar with the LFS chatting system and how it works. Plus it's hard for the COPs to understand if the person is reallt there, as I don't like to fine someone before getting some feedback from that person.
That's why I wanted to ask, if there is or is it possible to create a command for COPs to show a message on-screen, like SIRENS etc. - a huge text in the middle of the screen of the driver who the cop is writing to. Therefore it will be less likely for people not to notice the demand to move and will allow the COPs to clearly see if the driver is AFK or not before fining for illegal parking.

It think it could be done by combining the !l command with the "STOP POLICE" or SIRENS message "boxes"...

Before fining for illegal parking the cop should ask the civilian to move.

If he doesnt, and if he is illegally parked, he can be fined however if the fine was unfair or the cop didnt ask you to move, feel free to write a refund request.

I don't see how them not seeing the chat is a problem. If they're in a illegal parking spot, doesn't matter if they're AFK, they can be fined. There's already a HUGE parking ticket that comes up on their screen that clearly states that they've been issued with a parking ticket.

It's their fault if they don't look at the chat, what you should do is give them two or three warnings to allow them to move if they see the chat quickly enough. If they don't respond, you can fine them for illegal parking. There's no point in giving them a bigger chance of moving when we, as cops, already are giving them a reasonable chance to move.

It's always up to the cop to decide if he wants to issue a fine or not. So in your case you can just leave those guys alone.

It's there so people get a chance to move before they get a fine, it is up to them to notice it.

They have 30 seconds to kick off when you actually give the fine aswell.

since this is about illegal parking i'll add my question here, as i think it doesnt deserve a own thread:

can TC-Member and Chuck be fined for illegal parking?

not that i would, but ppl on the server were telling another cop not to fine refering to "Note 1: In some cases, administrators need to park at unusual places in order to do their job. In such cases, illegal parking does not apply."

so what are theese cases?

It's if an admin is doing something admin related, whether it is speccing a player who was privately reported, filling in a URS entry or anything like this. I would personally always avoid fining a TC member for illegal parking - you never really know whether they are trying to deal with a !tc or !report which of course you don't have access to.

well you say "i would personally" chuck said "guess i can be fined" you might consider making it clear admins , chuck and other superheros cant be fined. no more confusion

It is hard to impossible to say whether an admin is parked illegally or not. In case of urgent admin action you just pull over and do your job. That can be private talk to somebody or you need to catch-up with issue or argument that is going on, spectating a player etc. Or someone asks for a replay check or similar. I'm not saying admins never park illegally, but it's difficult to see. And honestly, I've got no spontaneous solution for that.

Would it not be easier just to not fine them?

As Chuck said, it's just too difficult to tell if we're genuinely parked illegally.

maybe i wasnt clear enough too. i dont fine them. there was a discussion about it cause someone wanted to fine chuck and i personally find the note istn clear enough cause it says "some cases" and "such cases".
sry for confusion, didnt want a big discussion bout it, just wanted to point out to you that you might change it to somethin like:
