Not sure if you realised but Windows 10 for PC won't have a start screen or any tablet-esque features.

I guess he refers to the ''tiles'', made for touchscreens. These tiles is what most people seem to hate, and just the general focus lying with touchscreen.

Windows kernel v. 6.5 = Windows 10
Windows kernel v. 6.4 = Windows 8.1
Windows kernel v. 6.3 = Windows 8
Windows kernel v. 6.2 = Windows 7


Furthermore, the lot of you saying that you wont use Windows 10 I simply don't understand, cause you're probably gonna end up using it either way eventually. Don't judge a book by its cover. Agreed, I prefer Windows 7 as well for its design, but the modern flat design is something I think we're gonna have to get used to, because they aren't just gonna stop designing things that way.

In all honesty, I've been using Windows 8.1 for a while now, but once you get used to it, its not that bad at all. (Plus, I can't get rid of Windows 8.1 because if I do I'll void the warranty)

Sure I do miss the start menu, but the most I'd get out of there at this very moment would be calculator and Skype. I've forced myself that if I want to go to the control panel, that I'll just hit super+e, hit the arrow, and hop to it.


Windows 10 has some nice features, not like they're 'new' to the world, but hey, you get to swap between "workspaces", the start menu will be back but with live tiles.

My biggest pet peeve with software lately is they focus way too much on their design while the day to day user actually hates that. Make it quicker/better and stop messing with the interface.

Also apps on a pc won't work, but microsoft always has to fail before they realise their mistake. Next up square wheels.

With that attitude there won't be a change no. But if a big crowd refuses to make the step towards their ''modern'' design, they are likely to take a step back. Not only because they want to satisfy customers, but also plainly because there is a market for it

A business' main goal is to make money, real simple. Generally customer complaints don't have any importance if it doesn't affect sales, because all they care about is sales (which is normal for a company). Exceptions are there ofcourse, such as Logitech but Apple would be a good example.

I did a test, you can open multiple desktop and switch between them (like on Linux...), the start menu is kinda nice but for the rest, there is no big difference with Windows 8 actually.

Windows 10 is Very Very fast.. They removed that metro and replaced it with that Start menu as you can see from the screenshot .so it's not complicated anymore

I actually kind of like Win10 from what I've seen with the Tech Preview. Only thing about it that annoys me is that you can't remove the Search and the Task View from the task bar, but other than that, it ain't bad at all.

That's kinda typical. Back at Win2K and XP time, you could even put toolbars to any side of the desktop and quickly access your stuff.

(Bad screenshot but the only one I could find.) I used it to access my drives and it was removed from Vista/7. Nowadays, I open a random window and manually type "c: \" in the adress bar. Pretty annoying, but still way faster than clicking though the normal navigation jungle.

Same goes for the quickstart-bar in Vista/7. Have you noticed, you can't just put links to it? It only accepts executables and only ONE of each.
You cant have two different links like "lfs.exe /cfg=player_a.cfg" and "lfs.exe /cfg=player_B.cfg" in it at the same time cause Crapdows recognises it as the same exe and replaces the other link.
When Vista came out I was so frustrated, I created two different executables, called "explorer_c.exe" and "explorer_d.exe". Self explaining.

So, again, Microsoft removed functionality and sold it as progress.

The strike of genius came with Win8. Why not take the entire start-menu away and sell it again?
