It's a decent one but don't be expecting it to be running GTA 4 on high settings with an R5

RE: Laptop Advice please
Don't go trying to buy a gaming laptop if you're only willing to pay £300. Anything half decent will be £700-1000. Increase your budget and get a desktop.

RE: Laptop Advice please
No it's shite as pretty much all budget laptops. Save up some more money and buy a Thinkpad T-series and put an SSD in it. I promise you, you will not ever become annoyed with it.

RE: Laptop Advice please
Any laptop with an AMD APU will probably be the best for games at that price point. Look for A8-____ or A10-_____. Would be enough for GTA 5, but not GTA 4. (5 is better optimized) Checked YouTube for reference.
The Toshiba you linked isn't terrible. Pretty good for how little you're paying: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400862909210 Decent processor, decent mGPU. I'm a fan of APU's for cheap computers. This is the best value/performance I could find, but does cost more than the Toshiba: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00LLE6Q...91&sr=1-10 Good processor, decent mGPU. |

RE: Laptop Advice please
He never asked about a gaming laptop, so no need for dedicated graphics guys. Read the thread. At least get something with an Intel Core i3, optimally an i5. Stay away from AMD. Too inefficient. Something like this would never ever let you down:

RE: Laptop Advice please
I've been using the crappiest tier Lenovo G50 laptop with a Celeron processor for a while now, I think it's excellent value for money if nothing else. Costs peanuts and seems to run everything (except new games ofc) at reasonable speeds (I do use it for making music in FL Studio for example, and Photoshop occasionally.) I have played Hitman Absolution and Oblivion on it without problems as well so it's not entirely useless for games
Really depends on what you're going to do with it anyway. Writing text, reading text, watching Youtube videos, watching movies, playing any games at all, or perhaps something very specific? |

Mainly just for browsing internet, potential to use lightroom/photoshop

RE: Laptop Advice please
Nathan, not sure if you've considered netbooks.
I have my Gaming PC and this little beauty: ASUS X102B 10.1 Touchscreen (Include Windows 8 + W10 upgrade + Office 2013) http://www.amazon.co.uk/X102B-10-1-inch-...B00FC55SVO It comes with a 500GB HDD and 4GB of RAM, both of which can be upgraded (I am considering a 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM which would cost around £110 and would make it fly), a fantastic touch screen, 1 GHz AMD A4-APU + AMD Radeon 8180G, which surprised me, making it perfect for dual screening (no performance loss), HDMI, VGA, 2xUSB2.0, 1x USB3.0, combined headphone/mic jack, ~6 hour battery life. I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 and Windows 10 Consumer Preview on it at the moment and it's the perfect dev machine as well as being ideal for day to day messing around like browsing. Runs Photoshop like a charm. With an external DVD drive (~£20) it would end up costing you around £240 if you got it now. With the upgrade I suggested you're still only looking at £350 (cheaper than most shitty laptops). For some reason, it's £25 more expensive than when I bought it but it's still easily worth that price if you're up for getting a netbook. I've owned two laptops and since owning this little thing, I am completely sold on netbooks. You won't believe how good having a very small notebook is until you try using one for things. It's way more portable and convenient than any of the previous laptops I've owned. If you're willing to learn to use a keyboard that is only just smaller than a full size keyboard (10.1"), the only annoyance for the first few weeks of owning it. EDIT: The reason it's more expensive is because this one has a slightly better processor than mine. Also, at the time of posting, there's a red version available here for £197!!!: http://www.amazon.co.uk/X102B-10-1-inch-...B00FC55SVO |

RE: Laptop Advice please
Thanks lamp but no i want to have the larger screen but thats impressive to have dedicated graphics on that
quite fancy these, ive upped my budget a little defo want a i5 but these offer i7's with graphics cards done some research and people rate the Nvidia card as better and its cheaper any other thoughts before i do a buy, ive noticed alot of them seem well speced but the processors are gash http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-Inspiron-...2ee1f6a92a VS http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301376011438?_...EBIDX%3AIT or finally the budget option http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400913772126?_...EBIDX%3AIT |

nathan Wrote:doesnt need to be all singing/ dancing Looks like this has changed then. Some advice, never buy an Inspiron or anything being marketed as a "Dell Gaming Laptop". They will just let you down. That HP looks like the best of the three. |

RE: Laptop Advice please
Pete you must be shitting me. Don't get an HP, you WILL have problems with overheating, as the fan outlet partly faces downwards. Don't get the Dell either. At least just keep away from everything that has glossy plastic on it. It's like a sign that tells you it's a turd of a laptop.

RE: Laptop Advice please
That would be a much better solution, notice how it doesn't anyway claim to be a "Gaming laptop"? Because it isn't, and so wasn't any of the other ones. I have a feeling you'll like that one. - Throw in an SSD if possible at some point and it will be very very quick.
