Modify the loss curve
My suggestion is simply to modify or cap the loss from speeding
EG. In jamaica it's possible to go -129 in a fz in the transition from h2 to the 60mph long straight.. That's a major speeding fine every 5 seconds.. or should I say.. a 100km bonus.. every 5 seconds.. Blablabla we should punish speeders. Well no, think about all those fun chases your having, and the cop loses nothing here, and yet we've to put up with these crazy losses for just a little bit of fun. There should be a cap on loss IMO, or an earning/losing rate that's not based on the car you're driving and purely on your speed alone - Thought we're concentrating on encouraging people to speed less, not speed in slower cars more? This is my opinion, flame it love it, do what you want with it |

RE: Modify the loss curve
Could be modified for nobody to loose anything for speeding while in chase? Or something.

Just happens that the FZ is a hell of lot faster than a TBO hence the reason you lose more money. So I really don't understand what the problem is here? |

RE: Modify the loss curve
I like the way it currently is because it encourages people to be cops (to earn money). If you could speed all day without losing a considerable amount, I would bet that there would be significantly less cops on the server.

RE: Modify the loss curve
I don't need to spend all day to lose a considerable ammount of money Brad.. Anyhow, I wouldn't mind this, even if its not a cap, but just a minor adjustment so it won't be as high as it is now. (Doing 200km/h+ in a 120kph zone is already -70+)

RE: Modify the loss curve
You need one hour to loose 20k in the FXR. I just did it was fun. If you have the money to waste then yeh. Drive the GTR's if you don't simply don't. Remember its a playboy car

The current bonuses are a bit too stingy IMO, but that's a different matter. (2012-09-13 18:11)Tommer Wrote: Blablabla we should punish speeders. Well no, think about all those fun chases your having, and the cop loses nothing here, and yet we've to put up with these crazy losses for just a little bit of fun. It's not about punishing speeders, it's about striking an overall speed balance. There are 2 theories to the way it works: 1. It discourages people from speeding consistently and the more dangerous the speeding (relative to the speed limit) the more it discourages you. People have to drive around close to the speedlimit to be able to afford to speed, which means that there should always be a variety of speeders and people driving close to the limits at all times. 2. You have to spend time and distance earning the money to speed in the first place. This, in theory, means that people get to know the layouts and should make sure they have a reasonable amount of experience before driving around a break-neck speeds. The loss calculation is already better than it was before - it was changed for this reset as there was a misinterpretation in the implementation of old system. Before, the speed used for the calculation started much closer to the speed limit than it does now, meaning you suddenly started loosing several € per tick as soon as you went over the ~130%; now it starts at 0 @ ~130% and gradually increases from there. The calculation is not different for different cars. It is purely based on the speed you are travelling above the threshold. If you drive at 120mph in a 75 limit in an FZ you will lose exactly the same amount at that speed as you would if you were ragging the nuts off an XRG at 120mph. The money loss calculation hasn't changed significantly in 5 years - even from before we had the first bonus system. It's worked so far. The thing that's really changed is that the FZ5 is now used a lot more than it used to, meaning people are reaching the loss thresholds sooner and, more critically, gaining up to 20mph extra top speed which is where the non-linear loss starts to hurt. People should drive the TBOs more again |

RE: Modify the loss curve
Although I can understand that this particular spot is a stingy one, but it's only representing the worst case but not the majority. The average shows that the loss curve is pretty much ok, I wouldn't question the whole thing just because its "wrong" in one of a thousand cases.
Furthermore, that spot is a deadly dangerous one and its a sideroad, hence the "low" speed-limit. Assuming a speed that lead onto a 129€ loss, I believe its pretty much impossible to go through there without crashing oneself, or even worse, somebody else. Not to mention that you're ignoring the right of way two times. So bottom line, drive slower or take a different route |

RE: Modify the loss curve
I don't think its the loss curve that's the problem, its the money gain curve, if losing money is based on the speed rather than the car, why is gaining money based on the car rather than the speed? IMO its the difference between to two, in xfg you can gain +4's then lose -4's because the car can't go quick enough to lose more, so in a lap of we for example you gain money, where as in fz5 you can gain +1 or +2 driving exactly at the speedlimit but lose -20 speeding, so you lose loads in a lap.. If u could gain +3 in fz5 it would make a big difference
