Well I guess making it 100% retro isn't really an option nowadays. Like there are mods and also the layout has features for that, like busstops and locations for freight etc. Those probably were not there back in the day.

I guess opening the area behind the pits would be a nice addition. They can keep the large green area in the south closed.

EDIT:
I just remembered how the current blackwood retro layout has the newer industrial area opened. I think its called "the forbidden city", and you dont get any income there iirc. Its sorta semi closed off but its still allowed to go there.

 


