RE: Assetto Corsa
Same random facts and thoughts:
(Please correct if I'm wrong) -The driving physics have improved and produce some actual joy now -Collision physics are bad, especially on low network rates. Compared to LFS, the network prediction is either utterly bad or not present at all. -The images above may show two-way driving, I haven't seen an option yet to disable wrong-way penalties (send to pit, kick) -The dedicated server on linux runs, but uses 100% cpu which makes is practically unusable. -There is no official documentation at all. All there is are (mostly utterly) outdated forum posts or web-pages from random people. Some design flaws: -You cannot change a car while joined. -The server runs with a static player/car list. Explanation below. The server runs in two modes: -Booking mode: The server allows types of cars which can be used for driving. All players must meet in the lobby, pick a car and join together the server. -Pick-up mode: The server starts in advance with a provisional car/player list. Every unique car must be written in the config in advance, but leaving the player-name empty. A player in lobby can pick one if the free cars and join while others are already driving. Players can/must leave the server and join into a different slot to change the car. -Track changes are impossible as of the most recent update -In-game chat is (practically) impossible. You can however use a ingame applet to write, with ONE line of history. There is no guarantee that other people have that applet activated and see the text. |
