It also does something similar which is hard to describe but usually fixes when I restart the game.

Looks like your GPU is about to die. Not a lot you can do apart from clean your fans and check for any driver updates.
When this happens again, try to take a screenshot. If the error is visible in the screenshot then it might be something else.
I agree with Pete. Had similar artifacts when my gpu died.

It's rather the video memory than the gpu but agree with the rest. Your card is about to die. I also had one with similar effects.
Yes, video memory exactly. My old laptop GPU had a similar issue before dying, so did the replacement GPU I got for it. Only difference to yours is that the entire screen was full of those sort of artifacts.
A likely reason why you're not getting this error on LFS (yet), is because LFS isn't as graphically intensive as ARMA or ETS.
