Any one keeping up to date with Orion? Nasa having been trying to launch since this morning, had many issues so far haha. Scheduled to relaunch in an hour or so (delayed for the 4th time) such a coincidence that I'm watching it live in Physics!
Orion is a new age rocket that they are expecting to use to send astronauts to Mars very soon! Todays launch is a test i believe.
Just watched the launch livestream crashed within the bloody countdown!!! Watched most of it though. Now to wait another 10-20 years before they do something productive with the data they just found

From what I read it is supposed to circle around the earth twice, and the main purpose of the flight was to test the heat shield on re-entry.
Yeah, although I thought the Mars thing was a one way trip? The reason why I say that related to the heat shield testing is because it said "testing upon re-entry BACK to EARTH" and I remember that the Mars missions will be a one way trip? Obviously Mars has an atmosphere and air resistance like earth so heat shielding is needed. It just confused me a little.
I find it fascinating how a 9 year old (I believe she's 9) is training to go. Also a mid-20 year old training at my local uni in Sheffield.
