Despite having a fantastic drive in the wet and slippy conditions, on our final stint our brakes were a little too hot, despite having track pads, and were finally starting to fade. On the main straight at about 110mph we broke a tad too late to compensate on a really sharp chicane (bare in mind the track layout was reversed), Blyton Park has absolutely huge curbs which are unnecessary. We committed to the chicane and hit the curb at roughly 70mph. Boom, engine cut off and we red flagged the track

I thought, **** how are we gonna get home? Oil sump must have been ripped off, oil everywhere, serious engine damage and underbody damage, maybe a wheel ball joint screwed as well as the really expensive coil over. Doh! (two Honda S2000's and a saxo also hit the same curb that day and stripped the bearing threads and smashed the ball joints ruining their day.)

But, fortunately, we had a miracle! As we all know, the good old Japanese Honda civic is a tank and literally no damage was caused on impact. We hit the curb with such force the accelerometer triggered the fuel cut off switch as if we had rolled the car. Surprisingly, the airbags didn't go off haha. Engine was perfectly fine, and we literally knocked the cars tracking, toe and camber way out on the driver side front wheel, so after out checks we were driving home 50 miles back to Sheffield living the stanced life on one side of the civic! All fixed and back to normal!

It's a performance car meant for the track at the end of the day, you gotta have some fun and push your limits otherwise what's the point?
It wasn't our first track day but it's still a big learning curve for our next track day, bigger brakes, be prepared and make sure you have a spare car available incase you do bin it. Scary stuff but all good fun!
