Creeper death is still a thing I'm afraid Chuck. They won't harm your creations though.
It might also interest you that entities, including mobs are currently broken so they're in a frozen state and can't harm you.

Didn't find a suggestions place so I'll post it here: what about making an admin shop or something that sells npc spawn eggs like cows and pigs.

Bez is already working on setting up shops at the spawn. It's a process that takes time. It'll come eventually. In the meantime, feel free to visit the W.i.p. underwater shop area, It's beautiful.

Minecraft has been on 1.18 for a while now
Tried going in with 1.18 and said TC server was still using 1.16.5

Tried using a normal 1.16.5 and it said i needed forge.
Tried using 1.16.5 forge and it gave me error codes.
