Spoiler (Click to Hide)
I fell off a bike.

RE: Something New You've Got... - Sinoco - 2013-06-26 18:35

I was going down a pretty steep hill, managed to lock my tyres due to inexperience. I had a real awesome drift going on for about 3 seconds, I thought I was totally badass. I went sideways off the bike into the gravel, and my arm took the brunt of the fall. Scraped my knee, abrasions to my hands, hip, and elbow (one pictured). I ended up riding for another 30 minutes and then had a panic attack and went to the hospital in an ambulance, fun times, fun times. It hurts like a bitch and I sprained my arm really badly, but I will live.

Bicycle, and it was sufficiently violent, the wound was pretty deep so it's too bad I only got it from an angle.

Know that feel mate W00t
Last year, first time riding my bike in the summer, I tried a tail-whip but jumped too high. I turned somehow sideways mid-air and landed on my shoulder/chest from about 2 metres and ate some rocks.
I couldn't move my arm at all because I had so much pain. Problem was I couldn't catch any breath either. So, my mate ran to my bike, to tell me it's fine. My best mate ran to me to take my arms and throw them up in the air after I told them I can't breathe. Remember that epicly painfully shoulder and arm I told you about? Yeah, it was still painfully to move it such shortly after my attempt to ram it into the ground like a flag. Well Win-Win for me, sarcasticly. I was happy my bike was fine, though. Because I had to go home with it. Riding home was not really a problem, aslong as it was going downhill. That downhill part flew past us pretty shortly, due to the fact I'm living on a frickin hill. But I'll come to that later. After all that dirt riding, we all felt pretty hungry. Luckily there is a McDiabetes pretty close to the track, as we call the old Bundeswehr practice area we ride in. Riding down there, no problem. It's downhill. Ordering that grease-soaked Big Mac was quickly done, either. The first disadvantage of that almost not-movable arm came up after that, though. I couldn't lift it to eat my goddamn well smelling piece of chemicals. I had to eat it like a dog out of his bowl. It worked somehow.
After that I started my trip home. It was ok, as long as I would not have to stand up. But not standing up on a dirt bike
(Example) (Click to View)
is a luxury, you don't always have.
Worst part was the hill, my house is built on (damn you parents). I had to stand up and use all my body-weight on the pedals while holding the bar with my arms. Ouch.
It took a week to be able to ride my scooter and about 3 weeks to move it without pain again.
I like to call this summer 'the summer of misfortune, pain and failure'. My 2nd time riding my bike in that summer went wrong either. No serious injuries on my side, although my bike suffered major
After a 30 minutes walk to the McD, I phoned my dad to pick me and Scotty up. Daaaamn he was mad. Oh and I was asked if my front wheel is a optical illusion by an old lady. Yeah, that's why I pushed it about half an hour on its back wheel. Unfortunately we had the idea to step on the wheel to make it somewhat straight after our arrival at the McD. I could've ridden it down there damnit.
Well it has a good side, though. I finally had a kick in my arse to upgrade Scotty a bit. So he got fitted a new wheel in the front + an upgrade from V-Brakes to a beautiful shiny white Avid Elixir 5 160 mm disc brake.

P.S. Bam you got life-story'd!

Good story though, glad you're alright. Thumbup1

RE: Something New You've Got... - Zipppy - 2013-06-27 00:42

I'm starting to do some mountain biking myself, I did my first proper trail on my hardtail bike this past Saturday. I was going a bit faster than my buddy at some parts, I was going up towards his friend who also came along. Only damage I got was a snapped chain, but we took the broken link out.

EDIT: finally got this.

Woah, Nice HTC One there!

Is it good? I really like the specs and reviews of that phone, it's just too expensive for a phone imo.

A screw in my tyre; just what I needed!

Holding it is surreal. My mother's carrier was waiving the initial cost for it, so I got it practically for free.
