Steam does actually suck.

Funnily enough I am yet to find DRM that doesn't.

Your best bet is DL Arma 2 Combined Operations from Steam.

Let it download, then play Arma 2 (just the original), get to main menu, then exit, run operation arrowhead, do the same, then (this part shouldn't be necessary but I did it just to make sure), run Combined Operations, main menu, exit.

Then, install @DayZ into your operation arrowhead folder.

Make sure you are running a beta too, not sure of this as I do things a bit differently.

Oh, and to save yourself some space on your HDD, just create a junction between steam/steamapps/common/arma 2/addons and steam..../arma 2 operation arrowhead/addons

That way, you won't need to copy GB's of data over. (Some people don't have this issue, some do.)

Yeah, when we are online it will say Friends (1) or (2) etc.. and tell you which server we are on.

But that means we are currently offline.

Now what?! I´ve been downloading Arma 2 and Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead for ages and when they finally finished, Arma just started downloading again. WTF?! I tried searching for it on my computer, but I can only find two internet shortcuts.

Pulling out my hair soon.

both shall be in there. (messed up place to put your games.. but that's steam for you)

I give up. I noticed the if you turn on debug it shows your indicators as full, apparently a bug but doesn't look like rocket's in a hurry to fix it.

Give us a screenshot of the Commander screen which shows the Arma2 and Dayz versions, and also of the error you are getting when you try to go on?

A few ideas..

When starting Arma 2 (without DayZ) did you make a profile?

Also, try this without the DayZ commander (make a backup of your Arma2.exe incase it doesn't work)

1. right click Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead
2. click on properties
3. in the "General" tab, click on "Set launch options"
4. set these as your launch option (without the quotes): "-mod=@Dayz -nosplash"

Your DayZ version shows as wrong because you've set "Launch through Steam" and you have not enabled to use the beta patch through the launch option in Steam. Either untick "Launch through Steam" or add this in your launch options, otherwise Steam automatically launches the stable release, and NOT the beta. The full options I found online (can't open my Steam atm) are...

Get into launch options using what Hexta says above. The first part tells Steam to launch the beta, second part tells it to launch DayZ, so if you wanted to play normal ARMA 2 OA you'd need to remove the "-mod=@DayZ;ca", as if you just launched it without the launcher it will launch DayZ anyways with that.

Or, just make a new game listing in Steam via add non-steam game or shortcut? Then you can have as many different launch options from one .exe as you please.
