RE: New Blackwood Layout - Pete - 2014-09-07 12:03

I have made the gaps in the armco one railing wider and have marked all of the gaps with yellow 4-stack tyres so it's more obvious where they are.

The reason the railings are there is because if someone attempts to dive through them, they will be sent back onto the correct side. If you want to u-turn, you have to slow down and do it properly rather than the "Autobahn-esque" last minute dive onto the wrong side.

Terrible with the railings (even with the 'gaps' still terrible).

Nice and constructive. Well done.

Anyway, thanks for the great effort with these layout changes Pete, definitely an improvement.

RE: New Blackwood Layout - Lcee - 2014-09-08 11:22

The idea to improve tracks is great, the performance on this track is not in my opinion.
If you want to overtake now, you're almost forced to hit the grass. (Not even to mention the misunderstandings that people will have, try to avoid and still hit eachother because of not having enough space)

And for example, if you're at the turn to the highway (reverse lap), I was used to cut the corner there. This made me impossible to get back on the right side with speed.

I still say it's more dangerous then it was.

Thank you BP for quoting. Thumbup

Just had a really long chase on the current layout.

Well, it's a mess. Suspect wrongsides on HW, you kinda have to follow and wrongside too to be prepared for u-turns (cause if u dont wrongside and ur suspect does a u-turn, you have to u-turn too and then you are on the wrongside too)

This causes lots of close calls and heavy crashes. Suspects use the faster line at the roundabout when heading north, wrongsiding again etc.

Back then you could simply go on the right lane again. But right now it's a mess.

RE: New Blackwood Layout - Pete - 2014-09-08 11:45

Unfortunately, I fear that we're running into the same problems as we used to see on the Autobahn before we introduced the no wrong-siding rule.

When I get a chance I will break up the central reservation on H1 north and south to see whether there can be any compromise between safety and fun.

Any problems with the actual junction yet?

RE: New Blackwood Layout - Mufflord - 2014-09-08 12:19

As far as i can see the junction works fine, but the railings in the middle causes alot of chaos just by simply passing someone as lcee mentioned, the junction is a great addition it forces you to slow down to 1st gear wich doesn't happen alot in the other track really wich is nice.

Pete, that layout is really nice, id just like to have the Roundabout back, and the "lanes" like this =

Should work pretty good if possible to implement. i think i have seen this type of layout in Westhill sometime back Biggrin

RE: New Blackwood Layout - Makee - 2014-09-08 15:22

No roundabout!!!

RE: New Blackwood Layout - Spark - 2014-09-08 15:47

Drifters be drifting the RB... The current Junction is well good. -1 Toni

RE: New Blackwood Layout - Mufflord - 2014-09-08 16:11

Yea no roundabout, we have enough of those things

RE: New Blackwood Layout - Pete - 2014-09-08 19:19

H1 now has a 3-on, 3-off armco line down the middle of H1 with a few twists.

RE: New Blackwood Layout - Sadie - 2014-09-08 19:54

make a roadwork where the roundabout should be? I like roadworks..

This is working great.

-Arab drifters don't drift over the whole highway now
-You can overtake from gap to gap
-You have plenty of room for u-turns in chases
