This is the only one I have to agree with, I have forgot to turn it back on if the suspect does drive off.

I have got a script which - when I pull over - I can press a button on my keyboard and it will press page up and page down, press 9 (hazard lights), press CTRL F11 (bind for caution), press T and type "Hello, ". All done in less than a second. If I deem the situation not worthy of a caution, then I simply turn it off. Reason I get it to turn on by default is because most of the time the suspect stops in an area which warrants a caution.

!siren shouldn't be left on at a standstill traffic stop. You don't see the cop car's siren blaring while the officers are talking to the driver in real life either. If anything, implement a new Traffic Stop sign that shows up while the cars are stationary and still not in chase mode. Or simply stick !caution on or don't put anything on if parked off the road (that's what i do now)

I was talking to KaraK about this ingame and i agree with his suggestion.

I would personally consider !siren as a visual siren, i.e. the blue flashing lights. The "siren blaring" would be the horn 5. So it's slightly different in my opinion.

It shouldn't say "SIREN" then on the screen. That's why i suggest a "Traffic Stop" sign or similar. !siren is associated with police speeding past at high speed.

RE: Auto !siren- when pulling someone over - BP - 2014-12-04 14:40

Yes, that would probably be an improvement.

Maybe it would be possible to implement a visual blue flashing light that stays with the cop car, like the other signs, to simulate a cop car parked with the blue lights on (in other words, maybe it doesn't necessarily have to be a sign with text)

I don't have any issues with stopping, turning siren off and if it's dangerous, turn caution on personally. I notice people react ALOT better to caution than siren which is unfortunate but what can you do. I like karaks idea becabuse it let's the cop focus on judging the situation himself and whether caution is needed instead of focusing which bind to press... By which time an accident may of happened of the suspect initiates a chase. In sense it's one less bind to press. Less mistakes are to happen. A safer and less stressful environment. I don't see any cons other than it be complicated to implement? I honestly think k the hardest job for a cop is the number of binds to press which can be awkward.

Quote:Version 2.84
-New: During a traffic stop (cops&suspect standing close), the visual siren will turn into a "traffic stop" symbol instead of the siren.

Nice work as usual.

Looking forward to trying this, thanks Chuck!

Really useful! Thanks Chuck! Smile

Just a thought actually.

This system works I presume when both suspect and cop have come to a halt and the finelist option shows. Thus the signal is turned on automatically?

You do not need to disable !siren manually? Also meaning !caution is not needed when in a routine stop.

Reason why I am asking is because it is apart of the training syllabus Tongue So some adjustments will be made also to let the team know Smile

RE: Auto !siren- when pulling someone over - Chuck - 2014-12-07 13:47

The siren will turn into the stop signal when stopped with a suspect. That means it needs the siren to be turned on.If its off, the other sign will also be off.

Another Note.

This new message is to be treated like a Caution to other drivers, correct?

So drivers who see this message should be cautious when approaching, slow down etc.
If the Traffic Stop is in a rather dangerous situation for other users and for some reason you are not able to move the traffic stop. Are you to still disable !siren and enable !caution/!hazard to warn others behind you? (!caution doesn't show in the presence of !siren) Or do you not use either of them at all?
