In Hungary You can break road laws with caution if there is an emergency vehicle behind you, or something... So stupid thing if You can't go trough red light in the U.K.... Some people die behind You in the ambulance, but no problem, the light is red... Biggrin

RE: Blue Light Aware - Turkey - 2012-01-30 15:13

I've been caught up at a red lights before when emergency vehicles are approaching. I must say, it's very frustrating not being able to do anything to get out the way. From my experience they just make their way around the lights by cautiously passing the lights the wrong side, so they aren't really delayed, but it looks a little risky.

An emergency vehicle approaching doesn't give you the right to break road laws (i.e. you shouldn't be forced into breaking road laws). Driving in most bus lanes is an offence. However with that said, I'd be surprised if you actually got convicted of something like that in such a situation, especially if taken to court - though it has happened.

Chances are if there's room in the bus lane, the emergency vehicle will already be in it. If you move into the bus lane, you're probably then blocking where they wanted to go which could very well get you in court.

would be nice if they would do =P i've been in some bluelight runs in real life now and about 60% of the drivers don't move, even if there's a big ass truck with blue lights and big ass air horns doing "tatüüüüütata" behind them =P

Once, after school when there was a traffic jam, like usual when the parents pick up their kids, there was a LF coming through. Everyone was pulling over to the pavement (if safe), you should have seen the happy faces of the crew in it Biggrin

RE: Blue Light Aware - Knight - 2012-01-30 19:58

Over here, your not supposed to stop when you hear or see siren's, your supposed to pull over and slow down, too many accidents were caused by people slamming the brakes and pulling over, kinda like on TC too lol

yh, now you can imagine my face when the people move over =P this is really rare Smile we once was about 1 minute behind one car with air horns on hi-low until it moved ... and it could've moved safely

True, but some bus lanes in my area are in the centre lanes and buses are busy occupying them being next to city centre. Just a thought anyway. But I doubt they would do you for it lol.

In the United States, you can't go through the red light, but in most other cases, it's get the *Removed* out of the way before the cop rams you out of the way. Mellow

RE: Blue Light Aware - Mobsine - 2012-01-31 16:25

why should we move to the buslane when it's empty?

they could drive on it.. much faster, probally much safer too..

RE: Blue Light Aware - McGherkin - 2012-01-31 16:30

We're saying you should not go into the bus lane Wink

RE: Blue Light Aware - Mobsine - 2012-01-31 16:37

and i asked why should we?
They could go on it.. (the emergency vehicle for the people like McG that doesn't understand that Tongue )

In holland we got rarelly buslanes.. not that much as in other country's...
i dont even know if there are rules for it when a emergency vehicle shows up..

RE: Blue Light Aware - McGherkin - 2012-01-31 16:42

...

I know you were saying that the emergency vehicle should go into the bus lane...

Nobody's said that normal cars should block it Wink

RE: Blue Light Aware - Josh - 2012-01-31 17:10

Not all road layouts/situations will mean that the emergency vehicle will be able to move straight into the bus lane.

RE: Blue Light Aware - Lewis - 2012-01-31 17:26

In edinburgh, the emergency vehicle normally uses the bus lane anyway but that is a slight problem when i am cycling because they find it hard to pass me so i need to try and find a bus stop or a junction, which is hard on a duel carrageway

My impression of the NYFD was basically slowly make your sirens more high pitched the longer your held up, and beep with extremely loud horns at anything that gets in your path Tongue

RE: Blue Light Aware - KaraK - 2012-01-31 21:53

Haha, nice vid Tommer Tongue
Funny to see how the drivers slowly begin to realize someone wants to pass.

We definitely need those bull horns here.

I think the horns getting louder = the siren motor spinning more because it works off the engine and the bull horns before crossing over a intersection they always do it to warn pedestrians ;p

Here's a video i like to watch Biggrin Its UK Police in busy London.

Notice at 2.20 how he waits and turns his sirens off. They don't always try and push past. I LOVEEEEEEEE the piercer siren when he starts to use it must absolutely death people around it. Tongue
