Give X-Plane a try. Demo is installed quickly.

RE: Flight Simulator Thread - Nammi - 2012-03-14 12:07

I have to agree with chuck. i was a huge FS2004 fan but since i was a bit disappointed with fsx i recently tried X-Plane and its awesome!

@McG: The point is you can save it in .jpg, reduce the FILEsize by a lot and keep the Resolution of the image the same! And BTW: once you have changed them you can edit your post and revert the links to make them work again.

RE: Flight Simulator Thread - McGherkin - 2012-03-14 12:34

Yes, the FILEsize has been reduced now. And since they were in 1920*1080 they could probably do with resizing.

Didn't notice you'd screwed with the links, I'll fix 'em now.

RE: Flight Simulator Thread - Chuck - 2012-03-14 13:10

Gee, BMPS's are UNCOMPRESSED*, hence they will always produce insane filesizes. Its ridiculous even thinking about posting such things here.
Either make them jpg or remove them. Better learn now how to do it right or you run into huge problems in your life Wink

RE: Flight Simulator Thread - Liam :P - 2012-03-14 16:14

I have 1250 hours on fsx. I love it, It is great fun to fly 737 short routes, and practice landings!

RE: Flight Simulator Thread - Malibu - 2012-03-14 17:05

I really wanna try X-Plane, but my computer doesn't seem to be able to handle it and FSX it can. So untill I get a proper computer I'll stay with FSX Tongue

RE: Flight Simulator Thread - Knight - 2012-03-14 20:13

FSX needs a patch to allow it to run on multi core's, since now its only using 1 core to render and the rest are basically idle....

Fsx is great tho u need addon planes

RE: Flight Simulator Thread - liebestod - 2012-03-16 17:35

I used to play lots of Falcon: Allied Force, sometimes multiplayer with a friend. It's a really incredible sim -- everything from the flight model to the avionics to the dynamic campaign simulation. All fully-clickable cockpits, and nearly every button does something.

The campaigns always play out differently because everything down to small groups of soldiers is simulated. Often, if you look out your cockpit into the distance, you can see skirmishes happening or rockets being fired, and all for actual strategic reason (not scripted).

Does anyone have a UKMIL account? Or an email address that ISN'T Hotmail/Gmail e.t.c.?

Trying to get the fix for their Sea King is like pulling teeth, lol.

This, Fsx was a let down for me, and if you've played Fs2004 you'll feel right at home.

Lol that UKMIL website looks like its webserver is also a timemachine which is set to 1999. I think Microsoft should be sentenced to clean the internet from all remnants of their Flightsim programme.

RE: Flight Simulator Thread - McGherkin - 2012-03-20 17:46

I know it's old, but their addons are good, apart from a few 'slight' flaws.

This is their Merlin's cockpit view for example.
As for the Sea King, raising the collective stalls the engine, without the fix posted above Sad

Just some of my addons. I have about 200 addon aircraft on FSX now.

(Took this down from 235 images to 92 Unsure )
(Too big for your screen? CTRL - zooms you out, CTRL + zooms you in and CTRL 0 returns you to normal size)
There's only 15GB left on my hard drive.

Surprised I haven't seen mention of a Virtual Airline or VATSIM yet ... someone please tell me I'm not the only one here who knows about VATSIM.

RE: Flight Simulator Thread - Tommer - 2012-10-13 07:21

92 Images and not a single one works

I spend most of my FS2004 time at IVAO. That or VATSIM is actually the way to go if you want to play a simulator. Thumbup1

Yeah I used to be the Chief Instructor of the Toronto FIR... I spent about the last 5 years on VATSIM.

Hahaha, awesome stuff. I was training in YXU under Brad for ATC a while back, sold my joystick and FSX when I was badly strapped for cash and haven't gotten around to getting them back yet. Thumbdown
