I don't think Need for Speed Underground really counts as a simulator? c'mon guys Tongue

I played Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed recently and seeing as it'll let ya play full clutch shifter and let you turn the driving aids off, use interior view (even with a helmet if you want) I'd call it pretty simulatory Tongue can even see the bonnets on some of the cars rattling slightly with the wind, definately immersive to say the least Smile

You forgot to add OMSI, even though you mentioned it yourself. I Heart OMSI.

People that have passion to rallying,

WRC for arcade and Richard Burns Rally for realism. (RBR is the most realistic rally game ever. It was released in 2004 but it still is one of the most popular rally games because you can modify it in so many ways. [RSRBR2012 etc.] And someone even said that Robert Kubica has played RBR Biggrin)

RE: List of other driving simulators - Cola - 2012-10-16 21:07

WRC, RBR, UKTS, GTS, STDS and EBS 2012 added.

Forgot, Ferrari Virtual Academy

Its a pretty simple game, havent tried it tho, afaik, it gives you some information about F1 and Ferrari + lets you test a 458 and their F1 car on Nürburgring, Mugello or on the Ferrari test track, Fiorano.

if i know this right, it hasnt got much/any racing or multiplayer or career mods or anything. Just simple hotlapping.

For those who got interested; http://www.ferrarivirtualacademy.com/game/en/index.jsp

Quite a list we're getting here Smile
- Should find some time off, and try them all Smile

Maybe there should be a bit of commentary about (some) of the games to prevent a to-high 'woohoo' factor:

DiRT Series:

DiRT1, is fabulous, this is the first and last game really aimed to the rally public were you where able to fine-tune every car for different stages. DiRT2 however, is more arcade-ish, wich makes the game alot more easier then DiRT1. DiRT3.. Hardly said, if you like tons of drifting, X-Games, oh, and rally, then you might like it. Fine-tuning a car.. well, goes just as far as in Dirt2. From all of the 3 games, if you like to fine-tune a car in most ways possible, and for just the rally factor, get your hands on DiRT1.

Euro Truck Simulator:

Amazing truck simulator, just because there.. erh.. aren't any others around. I've played the 18WoS series, and a few before that, and this is one of the favourites. Apart from missing the bit of setting up a company ingame (wich you were possible to in 18WoS - 'Haulin if I'm right), is a pretty good game based, as the name suggest, on most of Europe.

Euro Truck Simulator 2: Still to be released at the moment of writing this.

European Bus Simulator 2012
Ferrari Virtual Academy

F1 Series:

When I heard that Codemasters got a tonne of licenses, and announced a new F1 game.. I was happy... I pré-ordered it directly, and waited for its release-date, and just to be very, very, and very disappointed. Apart from my computer being barely able to run it at medium (I knew that already, so that doesn't really count), the FFB was weird, there was (not sure if still there) amazing bug with the Wheel - Game communication.. as it took about 1.5 - 2 seconds before the wheel ingame eventually started reacting on the wheel. This was however with F1 - 2010, and I'm not sure if the newer games were any better.

German Truck Simulator
GRiD:

Amazing racing game, didn't play it for to long as I was racing in rFactor at that time. (rFactor makes any other game feel totally weird, because its weird in its own way)

GT Legends
GTR/Race Series
iRacing
Live For Speed (Obviously): No comment Tongue
M3 Challenge:
Amazing, but, well, there isn't much to do apart from driving a BMW around the Nurburgring - GP track.

Need for Speed: Shift 2
Need for Speed: Underground 2 (Sort of):

Can't call this a simulator to be, a little, too.. honest. Its an arcade, its a great arcade game.

netKar Pro
OMSI: Der Omnibus Simulator:

Simply said: you have to have the patience to drive a bus around. Other than that, its a fairly good game.

Project C.A.R.S
Racer
rFactor 1:
Pretty good racing-sim, as long as you don't have a G25, or G27, you'll be fine. As in, the FFB is redicilous weird if you don't use a RealFeel Plugin, and next to that, there seems to be an always-on-auto-clutch, as you can just jump from gears without using the clutch pedal. Apart from that, the game is able to be mod, and not just.. a bit.. There's a whole website regarding to car addons, track addons, etc. http://www.rfactorcentral.com

rFactor 2: Heard about it when I was racing in rF1, totally forgot about it as they kept, moving, the freaking release date. Heard about it again when it was opened to an open-beta version, but I couldn't be arsed paying 65€ for a life-time license. (+- 35€ for a year license)

Richard Burns Rally: Rally, rally, and loads of it. Tried it on a fairly cheap wheel, impossible. Its known for its realism, so you have to be able to fine-tune rally cars, and drive like a iron-balled rally-driver to be able to make the finish in time. Amazing simulator. Just a tad.. "old".

Rigs of Rods

Scania Truck Driving Simulator:

Tried it, its fabulous, but for some reason my computer didn't like the game so its still there.. dusty somewhere on my harddisk.

Test Drive Series: TDU1.. was great fun. Arcade / Simulator mixed without being like NFS these days. (Oh right, this game was before the whole Pro Street / Shift series were even announced) Anyhow, great fun, the only bummer is.. They've just took down the multiplayer server, so the only way to go, is single-player, still a great fun, and a long story, but you can't cruise with friends anymore.

TDU2 on the other hand, is a cake from another planet. FFB is weird, and I just couldn't get along with it. Canceled the pre-order as I tried a leaked version, thats how bad I think it is.

UK Truck Simulator
WRC

Now, thats off my chest, and just had to be done.

Just so people won't argue with the above said things, those are written from my own opinion, feel free to post your own.
