Paul has a point, at that weight class, ABS makes the braking distance much longer. Clearly you don't understand physics. AJ's reasoning sounds plausible though. RE: Armored vehicle fails braking test - Johan. - 2012-09-29 13:21 Saywhat Malibu? ABS is there to prevent tyre-locking, wich also prevents the driver losing the controll of the car. Might agree with you on the braking distance though. But, apart from AJ's point, wouldn't ABS simply 'brake' when there's that much weight, on such strong brakes? Oh, by the way, for those who blame the brakes.. Even with locked tyres a axle should just stay in place, I'd more blame the axle itself, or atleast the way its 'mounted' to the vehicle. If you think I'm reading your essay, you got another thing coming ABS wouldn't prevent the axel spanning off its mounts, it would just slow the process down. Only thing I said was that ABS would give a shorter stopping distance. So you agree on that, but yet you 'saywhat' me? ABS keeps your tyres from locking, so that the grip stays at its maximum, thus stopping sooner. Having your tyres locked will only give you a longer stopping distance. RE: Armored vehicle fails braking test - Seven - 2012-09-29 21:39 I think that rig decided it doesn't want to be a 4x4 anymore... It wanted to do something like this: RE: Armored vehicle fails braking test - Paul - 2012-10-03 19:30 (2012-09-29 11:53)Malibu Wrote:(2012-09-28 21:34)Paul Wrote:(2012-09-27 23:52)Malibu Wrote: Why do high tech vehicles like these don't have ABS?
