Yeah as a 'mouse' driver, that may cause a crash, I dunno. Smile

What if instead of a chat command (!join), there would be a button that would appear on the screen? That would force the user to move the mouse and physically click on the button to be able to join the chase?

That button would contain all the information in regards to the chase (Like what its says on the top bar). We could also use the same system for Tow calls as well.

By doing that, we would prevent the !join spam and everybody would get a chance to join a chase.

Yeah this idea will ruin keyboard and mouse drivers experience.

All we need is a simple limit on how many time you can use !join before you get a notice telling you "Cooldown on !join is active for: 10 seconds" and if they continue to spam the cooldown gets greater and greater.

Do we have an information on if TC Team are going to disscus this?

RE: !Join Cooldown - Pete - 2013-08-24 20:37

We certainly will.

RE: !Join Cooldown - Pipa - 2013-08-24 21:00

I also spotted a user doing this. Sent that info to chuck so he can take a look.

RE: !Join Cooldown - Kyllone - 2013-08-24 21:42

I would like it but only if it has the possibility to still spam it for 2secs atleast. On the basis that if you want into a chase with for example only with your teammates or friends you can be sure to get into it.

+1.

A possible implementation could be a join radius.

Only cops within a 100m radius (road distance) can respond to the call.

It would probably be good to give closer cops the priority, but i would still let cops join from anywhere, in case none of them would be close enough.

For example, for the first 5 seconds of a backup call only a cop within some kind of radius can join, but if no one does, any cop can join after 5 seconds.

Yes, I like this idea better than the aforementioned.

Sounds good, but there's plenty of situations where you need a fast car or rb4, you're on the far side of the map and someone leaves the pits in the desired car. Does that mean they'll first have to travel all the way to the chase?
Same with team or friend chases. More often than not, you're not close to eachother when one starts the chase.

The !join cooldown solves the spam problem, which is what we're after here, right?

I agree with KaraK, I mean again, it already solves the main problem of someone spamming the button. I don't think it would be a too good to have that kind of thing that only the closest can join. And if the closer one is on a slow car and joins the chase and starts trying to catch up, someone in the other side of the map with a fast car would probably get to the chase even faster. If you get it Tongue Sorry my english again.

I've suggested only a 5 seconds priority for the cops that are close enough. If no cops would join after 5 seconds, any cop could join until the backup call expires.

But then you'd get cops following chases to enable them to have priority to join. I'm pretty sure cops not in chases are classified as civs and following chases is forbidden. Do you want to make more work for the Admins? Tongue

RE: !Join Cooldown - Pipa - 2013-08-25 13:20

I would prefer a simple cooldown, just as the lfs master server has.

RE: !Join Cooldown - Connor - 2013-08-25 16:50

Yeah I'd +1 a cooldown. Smile

RE: !Join Cooldown - Pete - 2013-08-25 16:52

On reflection a more simple cool down would be simpler and more effective.

5s between !join requests similar to call-tow system would work.
