The character might come back at some point. However if you overwrite it, it's gone. Look at the last update.

Also make sure you do this everytime :

Note: When exiting GTA Online, please pause the game and choose to return to Single Player. This will trigger a save and ensure that progress since the last auto-save is recorded. If you purchase items and immediately power the console off or exit through console system menus, those items may not be saved.

I probably wont attempt any more Online till they've posted some news about it or sent out a new game update.

I made my temporary characters in the second slot just to be safe.

Basicly a character that lets him have a limited experience of the online world, but the character won't get saved. So if the cloud is back his character will be gone.

Now that all your characters are gone aswell i do think they are working on it, makes me a bit more optimistic to not loose another one Tongue.
They could have said something though.

Who ever just did the building site mission with me, i had to call lester for a helicopter only remembered once i was dead Tongue. My bad.
