Because I'm currently completing my Masters they were forced to give me an unconditional offer. If/when I receive confirmation of passing my Masters (some time in early 2016) they will review my progress and move me to the PhD course. If I'd have applied for the PhD after receiving confirmation of my Masters I would have been on the PhD course straight away because the offer would have been conditional. It's a way for them to cover themselves if I don't pass my Masters (which I complete in less than 2 weeks anyway)

But yes, It's a doctorate and it'll be in the field of Computer Science and Informatics.
