The german word most used in this context is "arglistige Täuschung" [moral fraud]. So if you know that something is seriously wrong with your car, you are under a moral obligation to tell the buyer so.

And even if it is legal in sweden, it would still make the person a huge scumbag for doing it.

RE: Gearbox - Jimmy - 2014-11-14 12:15

I guess this is slightly culture dependent as well, in Finland it's more surprising to buy a car like this with no hidden or unmentioned problems Biggrin Out of 5 cars I've owned one was completely "as advertised" although overall I've had really good luck with my cars compared to most of my friends.

RE: Gearbox - Blade3562 - 2014-11-14 15:23

In the us even buying a new car may have hidden problems. I sold my mini 3 weeks ago never once had a major issue with it the guy calls me the next day saying it leaked oil on his floor. He took it to the shop and they said the valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket need replaced. I'm like BS I have receipts for those within the past 2 years and it hasn't dripped. I still gave him half the cost of the estimate.

Now I always get the bad end of the deal haha my grey rabbit or my current Jetta, electrical bs cut door cards, dying engine or trans hidden rust etc oh well I know I'm honest and if I get screwed it sucks but I'm not going to sue someone over a minor issue

Maybe new owner drove fast over speedbump then haha

RE: Car Talk - Audiojack - 2014-11-14 16:29

I've never even bothered to call the previous owners about anything, I've just fixed the stuff that went wrong. Not that big a deal for me luckily. I did downplay some of the problems on my black Accord when I sold it, for example I said the speedometer not working is an intermittent problem when on reality it didn't work 90% of the time at the time of sale. I also mentioned including a spare speed sensor but in the end I didn't bother removing it from the silver one to include with the car... I did give a crapload of other stuff to go along with it though.

RE: Car Talk - Petsu - 2014-11-14 18:17

AJ it is illegal to lie about what your selling here in Finland. Proving that salesman lied is another thing Wink

I tried looking up a law regarding that, could you verify?

RE: Car Talk - Warped - 2014-11-14 18:46

Consumer Protection isn't applied when the trade is done between two consumers (in Finland).

RE: Car Talk - Petsu - 2014-11-14 18:49

Its still a fraud

You cant sell anything as something it is not or it is fraud

That is actually true, come to think of it, but it is still impossible to prove so it's pretty useless.

RE: Car Talk - Leon - 2014-11-14 20:22

Let's just cut it short, people: If you know your car is defective and you sell as a fully functioning car to someone that isn't aware, or doesn't notice the defect, you're an asshole.

End of.

RE: Car Talk - Jimmy - 2014-11-15 12:18

Now is freaking clutch not slipping anymore have fixed it + i drove with trailer behind had little stuff on it so now i can just wait until feb next year, I was up half night to fix the problem now its working good.

RE: Car Talk - Jimmy - 2014-12-09 06:37

So i have find out the problem, gearbox was only mounted with one screw and there supose to be 2 to engine in last friday i couldent take home the car because when i pushed on clutch in car hole engine and gearbox moving from eatch other 5-10cm no wonder it was to slippery and transmission oil was out, so we have fixed minor things now, Obs its only costed 30KR in swedish money to repair it. Its very cheap to fix it and now i hope it will never come back the problem. My morning english not good sorry if i spelt wrong

RE: Car Talk - Leon - 2014-12-09 22:21

Wait, what? You're transmission was loose? Or, to put in in other words, you mounted the transmission with one bolt and thought everything was fine?

I wouldn't touch your car with a torch.

RE: Car Talk - Blade3562 - 2014-12-10 04:06

VW transmissions have 3 of the motor mounts attached(front via starter and block, rear and left) to them and are only attached to the block by 3 "crucial" bolts plus the two on the starter I would suspect your right side motor mount is done as well.

Simple mistake bet you'll never do that again haha.

My Jetta actually only had one. Luckily I had extras and installed them a few days after purchase.

RE: Car Talk - Jimmy - 2014-12-10 05:16

Yeah Blade a simple mistake some people can do, + Leon its a good damn fully working car now and the new 2 mounts sitting with lock thigt now. So only thing i have pay to car is gas every 2-3 weeks now nothing more so stop complaining about it. Gonna show what was wrong with clutch before and that will explain why clutch was slippery and bad.
