RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout - Luke - 2015-03-02 15:22

Personally it's a pain adjusting to new layouts but small changes like this I think are great. A change in the way people take certain routes make things more interesting as long as it's not drastic. Keep it short and sweet with minimal issues, like the current layout but with a few modifications to make it neater will do just nicely.

It's like roadworks. More realistic and citydriving'ish.

I don't see why some people find adjusting to layout changes a pain. It's not like you need to set a good time for racing. It's just cruising.

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout - Bez - 2015-03-04 13:11

I don't want this thread to be consumed and forgotten about. Can we have some more opinions?

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout - BP - 2015-03-04 13:42

66% is a decent majority there.

I think we should trial Bez's. Trial is the key word, if we don't like it, it's not set in stone so I don't see a problem.

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout - TigR - 2015-03-04 13:50

I tried the layout out some just now and i cant really find one way to just plow through it without crashing, either on the correct side or wrongside. Other than the bit Bez fixed. The only problem i see is that it is a bit confusing from some sides.. But i guess we would just have to learn that.

Exept this bit right here: [Image: 65418dc914.jpg]

Updated version with the added barrier to stop people blasting through from Devils > HW2

I think a trial would be nice however, the layout has been changed again recently and is now much more difficult to plow through so it has been improved but I think Bez's maybe better so it's worth a trial in my opinion.

Elmo, Bez, Howlin, Nick and I banged our heads together and came up with a new idea for the Jamaica junction.

Using an idea that Elmo came up with for another layout, we designed a bunch of 3-stop junctions. We tested it for about an hour and after racing through all different permutations of the junction, it is faster to drive on the correct side of the road.

The layout is loaded on [TC] Events. We've taken the password off so you're more than welcome to go and give it a try.

The junction is very clever made. It forces you to stay on the right side, in any direction you go. The speedbumps and bits that are sticking out require you to have a perfect line, otherwise if you enter fast, you will either understeer after a bump and/or crash into a barrier. If used correctly it can be very fast and safe at the same time (even if these two are incompatible). Some tweaking can be done on these parts: Direction Devil's Corner - West Bridge (faster on the wrong side) and the other way around as well.

The bit that I've put a circle around can be pushed a little bit backwards so it actually becomes faster when using the correct side.

I prefer this layout over the previous one made by Bez, nice work guys.

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout - Chuck - 2015-03-05 06:56

Yield here, yield there, yield everywhere. And you don't even have a defined right of way. That's the perfect recipe for frustration. You're punishing everyone who just wants to take a simple drive, and for what? Because it looks fancy?
I'd rather have no junction at all and take the chances running straight though it with eyes closed. I may end up crashed 1 of of 10 times, but its still better than stopping 3 times within 50m just to take a left turn and end up crashed anyway. You're a sitting duck for every additional second you're stuck in that junction.

Best Pete's layout! Take that pro!

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout - KooKoo - 2015-03-05 08:35

I think bez's roundabout is the best idea, i've suggested it but im crap at making layouts.

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout - Barney - 2015-03-05 08:37

wow that looks like chaos lol.
stopping everywhere plus all those tiny red barriers where ppl will fail and suddenly bounce back.
yield lines are the most dangerous part cuz people ignore or dont understand them. especially in that kind of confusing evironment.

i liked bez suggestion.

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout - Pipa - 2015-03-05 09:33

I prefer the roundabout aswell.

Have you actually driven the roundabout? It's like threading a needle.

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout - Pipa - 2015-03-05 20:31

Yes, although i can't say what long term effects it will have since i only tried it briefly.

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout - Pete - 2015-03-05 20:33

And did you try the last suggestion, on Events?
