Taken from the official website : https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-insurance/uninsured-vehicles

GOV.uk Wrote:4. Uninsured vehicles
Rules in England, Wales and Scotland
You must have motor insurance for your vehicle if you use it on roads and in public places.
You do not need to insure your vehicle if it is kept off the road and declared as off the road (SORN). This rule is called ‘continuous insurance enforcement’.

Comes into play what he said:

If he plans to turn the car into an Exocet, i'm pretty sure they plan on taking it to a track and not on the roads. While the car is being worked on, it can pretty much be declared SORN for the time being and then get insurance in a couple of years. Same thing goes for the MOT.

Wrong, an exocet is a kit car that can be driven on the road. You could think of it to a rival of the ariel atom.

And how does mazda and Rust relate to insurance?

Djmad, if you had made up your mind in the first place, then why was there a need to create a poll. You could just buy the car and if you need help with parts fitting, you could post a thread called my MX-5 project and I am sure that people like toni, audio jack and blade would like to help as well.

How far away from your house is it to this land of yours.? Because if you have to drive it there, get an MOT done and get your dad to insure it. If needs be go to a traditional track day at brands Hatch or Silverstone to test the MX-5.
Those are the best places to test the car, or even Rockingham Wink
