My car's gearbox pattern especially is confusing. Reverse is beside first. My grandmother almost crashed it once.

Meh, it's the same with G27 if you flip it lol.
Just press down and into 1st = reverse

My dad got confused first time on a diesel Laguna I, that stupid to put the reverse first..

It isn't first as you have to push down the entire gear lever to engage reverse. BMW's use a similar safety. It's not science.
However, the pulled back 1st gear that M3's use is VERY hard to get used to in my opinion.

My father's reverse is below the 5th gear. The car beeps when you put it in reverse. A mate's car has it near the one and requires you to pull a 'lever' before you are even able to put it in reverse.

Don't you have to push down to select reverse though? Unless she drives pushing down on the gear stick.
